A spot of Sunday lunch- would recommend!

Went here today for a late lunch. It was lovely! Good quality food, friendly service and although a little pricey with quite a modest menu this gorgeous pub can demand it. The decor is lovely and dogs are welcome so makes a homely place with fires lit to welcome you in! Would definitely recommend a... read more

Four of us had intended going to another pub which we found was closed so thought we would try the Red Lion and we were very pleased that we did. Charming building with friendly landlord and waitress. Good beers and good selection of interesting dishes on the fixed price menu which were well cooked and very enjoyable. Would certainly visit... We popped in here at the RL as we were passing and we were glad we did. The building is nicely refurbished inside and out whilst retaining the Cotswold character. Inside it is warm and inviting with a log burning stove in the middle of the bar. Despite the restaurant areas being full, the waitress said she would do what... More

A walking group had reserved a table to have a light snack and drinks after a 5 mile walk. When we arrived we were told we couldn't order the food at the bar and that someone would take our order. About 40 minutes later someone did come and take an order and only then could I order a coffee. By... More

We just love this pub. The people are so friendly (having just relocated from NZ this is particularly nice for us)...and the food is wonderful. Its still our all time favourite place to go. Thanks to the people there for making it such a nice relaxing experience...with wonderful food and service.

We recently dropped into The Red Lion for a quick lunch and were very impressed with not only the excellent service but also the fantastic food - we only had a main and a sweet but the food was fantastic - we had the Tagliatelle Special and were amazed to have virtually half a chicken on each plate - it... Very friendly and welcoming, don't hesitate in asking staff for 'whatever' as they're a great bunch. My first visit was by chance in search of food...I found excellence!

Christmas Eve lunch, arrived as it opened but was told they were fully booked but they could get is in if we could eat within an hour, not perfect but we was hungry. Staff could not be more helpful & friendly including to our dog who ordered his own "pig ear" from the menu. We had the beef shin which... More

This was my fourth time for lunch at the Red Lion, Long Compton and it continues to live up to our first-time good impression. I can't think of a single negative point about this warm, welcoming pub and restaurant. Set in a delightful Cotswold village, ten minutes drive from wonderful Whichford Pottery, mellow old building, good car park, charming staff,... More

Had an impromptu lunch here after a visit to the Rollright Stones. He had "hand carved ham" with assorted designer trimmings and granary bread - it apparently ticked all the right boxes! and I had the salmon and crayfish salad with lemon mayonnaise. Delicious. Coming in from the car park there are steep steps down to the main bar area,... More
