My partner and I came here for Sunday lunch, we hadn't booked and the waitress just managed to squeeze us in, so I would recommend booking even if it is only a table for two. Excellent service, we ordered beef roasts, and some drinks. The drinks came quickly along with complimentary bread and a jug of tap water. We were... More

Visited here with a couple of family adults on a Friday evening. The menu had a good selection and there were 'specials'. Although it was fairly crowded, the service was attentive, helpful and quick. We all enjoyed our choices of starter and main, although none of us had a sweet. Definitely worth a visit.

My partner and I went to The Red Lion for a celebratory meal together and had a wonderful evening. The food is outstanding and served in a good time. Service was friendly, and they didn't rush us even though we came in quite late. Would definitely recommend.

After a very wet bank holiday camping trip our group of x4 adults x4 children & x3 dogs couldn't have been happier to have discovered this pub . Nothing was too much trouble to set up a table so we could all eat together. Our dogs were made welcome, they even have pigs ears for sale to keep them quiet... More

Bit biased perhaps as a Long Compton resident but honestly I don't think you will get better food anywhere. The pub is still a proper pub with good beer and (in winter) nice open fires but don't be deceived this is a high class restaurant. Sarah is a seriously good cook and Lisa is a front of house star. We... More

Had lunch here after a walk. We opted for the set menu. Food very tasty and good. Only thing is the fish cakes very small compared to rest of meals. Service a bit ott and seemed staff were trying to hard to please. Overall good and would visit again.

Happened to be passing through Long Compton and dropped in at lunchtime. There was a warm welcome and even being a solo diner was shown to a window table. Service was excellent and the set two course menu was selected, there were other options and a variety of chefs specials to tempt. The food came out promptly, staff were friendly... More

My experience at the red lion was awful.. We had waited ages for our booked table. We then waited 45 mins for our starters of which was the best bit! (Cant really go wrong with smoked salmon). I ordered a steak medium rare and it came out WELL done so I sent it back and then got told by managements... More

What a lovely friendly place to have a meal. The staff were most friendly and attentive. The food was excellent, I had the duck and it just melted in my mouth. It was the first time we had eaten there but it won't be the last, will most certainly make a return visit.

Visited here on a Saturday evening, having booked in advance. It was our first visit and we were not disappointed. We received a warm welcome and while our window table was not the warmest at first, it improved as the evening wore on. The menu was varied and it was complemented by a number of appealing "chefs specials". The service... More
