Lovely food and lovely setting

We go here quite a bit. Lovely homely pub, with dogs sitting by the fire. Pool and jukebox room, lovely outdoor area, sofas by the fire and cosy restaurant. They also have guestrooms. The menu is relatively limited, but I like this as it has a lovely, ever-changing variety of food (duck/ pork... read more

had dinner (booked) friday evening and lunch (not booked) saturday. Service at all times was excellent. Friendly helpful staff. Pub is well presented and makes for a nice relaxed setting. Food was ok and well presented but lacked flavour to be honest. Cost wise was ok. I've paid more for worse and less for better. They are dog and child... More

Booked Sunday Lunch for a party of 13,but unfortunately forgot the children which meant we were 16 instead, but the lady who welcomed( tall lady with short dark hair)us was completely unfazed, and despite the place being packed quickly re arranged our table with a smile great customer service. Food was great and all agreed that they would be back... More

Stopped here after reading reviews on our way back from The Cotswold Distillery.Opted to sit outside and chose the sandwich options for lunch. Food was very nice but will book if visiting again as it was very busy even on a lunchtime in the middle of the week.

We've been meaning to try for a while and stopped on our way back from the Isle of Wight rather than facing an empty fridge and hungry children. We hadn't booked and they were full, but they quickly squeezed us in before a later booking with no fuss. What really impressed, apart from the top notch customer service, was the... More

This is proper food served with aplomb. The haddock and leek tart was a great starter with crisp shortcrust pastry and just enough cheese to complement the fish. The lamb shank main course had a tasty broth with meat falling off the bone. It is often the vegetables that set a place apart and it was no exception here -... More

Visiting family near Shipston on Stour, My Aunt booked us in for a family evening meal. What a fabulous evening we had. Great service and fabulous food. The children's menu was great. No chicken teddies etc, it was 'real food' ie steak, ham, egg and chips & much more. Great choice on the main menu. The price was reasonable and the... More

This is a most attractive pub with pleasing décor. The log fires create a lovely welcome as do the staff. The menu is varied and when the food came it was well presented and simply delicious. My friends had starters of soup and warm goats cheese tart. For mains I ate baked halloumi cheese and vegetable kebabs with cous-cous and... More

Without needing to think, I talk about the Red Lion. It is my favourite place to eat, mainly due to their famous Hooky Pie, the barometer set for all other pies; a pie that I have literally had dreams about. But when I have overcome my allegiance to the Hooky Pie and tried something else from the menu, it has... More

Went here today for a late lunch. It was lovely! Good quality food, friendly service and although a little pricey with quite a modest menu this gorgeous pub can demand it. The decor is lovely and dogs are welcome so makes a homely place with fires lit to welcome you in! Would definitely recommend a visit!!
