I'd been wanting to try the Crannag for some time but had never had the time until now as my visits home are always fleeting. Finally last week, we got the chance and my parter took my Mum here for a belated Birthday meal. We could not have asked for a better evening. The food was amazing! As soon as... More

A great menu with a variety of dishes from around the world as well as Scottish and made from local produce as far as possible. The meals were excellent, house wine very good and all served in a welcoming atmosphere by friendly and helpful staff who are enthusiastic about what is on offer. Great to be a "local" to this... We had checked reviews for restaurants in Sutherland and Crannag had consistently good reviews so we knew we would try it while we were staying at Eagle's Crag at The Alladale Wilderness Reserve. Met and exceeded our already reasonably high expectations. Two of us went in the first night and ordered off the menu. Cheese souffle was a total stand... More

Fabulous food, so glad we made the 50 mile round trip to get there. Highly recommend the scallops for a starter and such great value for money! We will definitely be vack

We went on the recommendation of the owner of our holiday cottage. We like to eat early and were the first there but the place soon filled up. The restaurant is not large so I recommend booking. The bar has a good range of local craft beers (mostly bottled) with one on draft and a wide selection of good whiskey.... More

The Crannag is one of those restaurants that should be in London. The food is exceptional. The atmosphere very welcoming and personal. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Thank you for your great review! We will take the London reference as a compliment! Though we might not be able to get such lovely local beef, venison and scallops down there ... Thank you for spreading the word and hope to see you again in the near future. Ian. More

Only open for few hours on evening so need to ring up and book, also has take away if that is what wanted. Promote local produce in drink and food. Ian is a great host and a drink and chat at bar whilst ordering from blackboard menu then going to table when meal is ready. No rush and time to... More

We were recommended this place by a B&B owner as being worth the extra journey from Lairg. We booked by phone on recommendation - presumably it gets busy. The bistro is right on the main street through Bonar Bridge -it has an attractive outside appearance and bright, modern decor inside. There is a small bar area at the rear slightly... More

Thank you for your review! We like being 'slightly unusual' and would hate to be 'run of the mill'! We are glad you enjoyed our bistro, food and hospitality and thank you for recommending our establishment. More

Had a lovely meal here on last night of land's end to John o groats cycle ride. The proprietor was only too keen to offer his excellent advice on the scotch whiskies from not just the local area but all over Scotland. The cheese souffle really was superb and the steak was cooked to perfection. A memorable experience and I'm... More

Thank you for your kind review. So glad you enjoyed our locally sourced steak and hope it gave you that extra oomph to get up to John O Groats on your bike. Hope to see you again on a more relaxing holiday! Ian. More
