It's a delight and a relief to find such a superb restaurant locally to bring family and guests to. Not only truly delicious food - every course! - but the perfect degree of attention, there when needed but not hovering. My daughter and I were made to feel very welcome, my wheelchair easily accommodated, the ambience was delightful and ,... More

Loved this place, great host, lovely food and local beer on tap. They were able to cater for our individual requirements (one vegan, one veggie and one gluten free...not every chefs ideal customers!) without any fuss, and made us some fantastic food.

On a very busy Wednesday evening in the middle of July we managed to get a table at the Crannag. We actually met the chef's husband when we passed the bistro in the afternoon to view the menu - he was very informative and gave us good vibes to eat there later that day. He did all the front of... A great welcome and beautifully prepared locally sourced food. Lovely menu with excellent choice. I had Scallops that left the water at 4pm and were on my plate by 8pm! Quite the best I have ever tasted! We were only sorry we couldn't sample everything on the menu. Very good house wine. We had to drive so only had a... More

Happened by chance quite late in the evening, I was welcomed by a warm smile and an outstanding menu. Very fresh food sourced locally, savant combinations of ingredients and flavours to create a perfect harmony of taste. Good choice of wines and desserts to die for. A must-stop n the beautiful Sutherland if you pass by or a well worthy... More

We had a warm welcome when we arrived for our evening meal, and were made to feel right at ease. The meal was delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. We would certainly go there again when we are next in Bonar Bridge, or nearby. Wonderful freshly cooked food, and lovely people too.

We came across the Crannag Bistro purely by chance on our trip around the Highlands. Good service preceded a delicious meal which began with our first experience of a cheese souffle, we were not disappointed! My partner opted for the locally sourced steak and enjoyed it immensely while I chose the Thai Chicken Salad - a riot of colour and... More

Four of us were in Strathkyle for family reasons and visited Ian Smith's restaurant in Bonar Bridge on recommendation. it was like a breath of fresh air. An inspirational menu with an eclectic musical accompaniment- what more could you ask for? So inspirational was the menu that we were intriqued to discover just what we were being offered....oyster steak was... More

Food tasted great, service great, owner does a brilliant job of gauging who wants to chat and who wants to eat; a difficult balance to strike in a small family run establishment. Delicious organic wine... Thanks and special thanks to the magician in the kitchen.

We arrived at Crannag Bistro tired and disheveled from a day of travel. Ian gave us a warm welcome even though it was late, his place was packed and he looked a wee bit harried. Lulled by the great music and friendly conversation, we felt our worries disappear as we settled in for an evening to remember. And the food... More
