Great pub, welcoming staff, good food

We stayed in Thorpeness for a week, and visited The Dolphin several times. Staff were always friendly, atmosphere cozy, and food good. Sunday's roast and crumble lunch was particularly good value and delicious. Highly recommend.

Took family for lunch and was so disappointed. Had previously had very good meals but on this particular day the could not care less attitude of staff and very average food spoilt what should have been a happy occasion. The place was not busy so no excuse for poor service.

You know when you walk into a pub and you immediately feel at ease, that's how you're greeted when you step into The Dolphin. It's as if it's your local, warm and welcoming, just how a good pub should be.. If you want a roast and a crumble this is the place for you. Good local food. Produce is picked... More

Glorious sunshine meant we could sit in the large garden and enjoyed a great Sunday Roast followed by Apple & Berry Crumble. Super value at £13.95. Helpful smiley staff. Do make sure you book a table as the Dolphin is very popular. Dogs are welcome in certain areas of the pub and obviously the garden.

We had a great welcome from friendly and attentive staff after a long day of travelling. Out of season (October) , The Dolphin has a quiet but friendly atmosphere, with a pleasant interior, full of local atmosphere. There was an extensive a la carte menu which looked interesting, but there was also prix fixe and daily specials, which we had... More

We ate from the Prix Fixe menu at £12.95 for 2 courses, drinks not included. The staff were all very nice and we were very well looked after. We had Fish Pie and the Home made Beef Burger and followed up with mixed fruit crumble. The mains were fine, but not stunning. My wife's fish pie seemed to be entirely... More

If you are on the Suffolk coast near Aldeburgh at midday and are looking for somewhere to have lunch and a good pint of Adnams bitter look no further than the Dolphin at Thorpeness. We have dogs so the garden area is perfect for our needs and there is a canopied area if the skies turn grey. Lovely Smoked Salmon... More

Visited twice, Sunday lunch is a nice pub lunch. Service efficient. No table service to the garden which is a pain, having to leave children unattended to get them additional drinks is a little backwards given the team came to collect empty plates and return with the bill. Had to pay a surcharge to swap crumble to ice cream for... More

I recently had dinner in this pub restaurant. Not an exciting menu & then the main fish course we sent back. The replacement dish meat was tough-When one has a disappointed customer I would expect to make an increased effort to save the day but certainly not inthis case. Maybe they feel they have the monopoly of Thorpeness & need... More
