Consistently really good

It is high time this review was written. Lucky us to have the Dolphin nearby. It is the best pub food for miles. Summer, with the huge garden and tables a decent distance from each other, winter with its blazing fire and always with delightful staff, it is always a winner. The menu is that rare... read more

lovely meal, chilled out over log fire and long lunch with friends and their well behaved dog (altho we did check first about dog appreciation) .. staff were really helpful and attentive without being intrusive , walk on the beach and visit antuque centre... good day out...

We found this pub by accident on Christmas Eve whilst on a sightseeing trip. It was magic. It had space for us, we could park nearby and wonder of wonders they were doing hot roast beef sandwiches. Huge quantity of meat on wholemeal rustic bread and all the trimmings. Super local winter ale. Oh and the wife liked it too!

We had two roast beef sunday lunches @ £13.95 each. The food was bland, the meat fatty and sinewy and the gravy beige and flavourless. When the waiting staff collected the plates we expressed our disappointment which was also clear by the remains on our plate. The waiting staff did apologise but there was no attempt to rectify the situation... More

The main course was to a high standard and all of our meals were well made. However I would not recommend the deserts; unfortunately I chose the cheesecake and although the presentation was great the cake seemed to be out of date. It had an awful taste. As well as this the baked apple was not what we were expecting... More

This pub doesn't have to try too hard as there is no other pub in the village, food was ok but a bit pricey for what it was. In need of a bit of a makeover unless it has been done recently.

We stayed in Thorpeness for a week, and visited The Dolphin several times. Staff were always friendly, atmosphere cozy, and food good. Sunday's roast and crumble lunch was particularly good value and delicious. Highly recommend.

Took family for lunch and was so disappointed. Had previously had very good meals but on this particular day the could not care less attitude of staff and very average food spoilt what should have been a happy occasion. The place was not busy so no excuse for poor service.

You know when you walk into a pub and you immediately feel at ease, that's how you're greeted when you step into The Dolphin. It's as if it's your local, warm and welcoming, just how a good pub should be.. If you want a roast and a crumble this is the place for you. Good local food. Produce is picked... More
