Tasty Sunday lunch

After a row on the Mere, we went into the pub for Sunday lunch. The beer was well kept, although the lime and sodas were charged as soft drinks. The roast lunch was delicious, the beef was good, although well done. The pork belly was not overly fatty and the crackling was very good. The roast came... read more

Had a trip to Thorpeness from Lowestoft and had a great lunch in this lovely pub - it has a great atmosphere and is decorated beautifully - the staff are very welcoming and hospitable - we only had sandwiches but they were beautiful, the bread was really fresh and the salad and chips were gorgeous - a real lunchtime treat!... The only pub in Thorpness in a commanding position at one end of the village. The Dolphin has a large garden with plenty of seating as well as a cosy interior. We had lunch on Saturday with a party of 12. The service was good considering how busy the pub was, they serve a selection of real ale and wines... More

Roast and crumble for £13.95, a bargain! Beautifully cooked beef with a massive Yorkshire puddin', leervly roasties an a nice selection of veg covered in a tasty gravy. Crumble and custard to follow, staff that smile, perfect!

what more could you ask for in a pub/restaurant. lovely food with very good staff nothing too much trouble. I know it's the only pub in Thorpeness but you don't need another. overall would recommend to all.

It is high time this review was written. Lucky us to have the Dolphin nearby. It is the best pub food for miles. Summer, with the huge garden and tables a decent distance from each other, winter with its blazing fire and always with delightful staff, it is always a winner. The menu is that rare delight that you look... More

We found this pub by accident on Christmas Eve whilst on a sightseeing trip. It was magic. It had space for us, we could park nearby and wonder of wonders they were doing hot roast beef sandwiches. Huge quantity of meat on wholemeal rustic bread and all the trimmings. Super local winter ale. Oh and the wife liked it too!
