Have just spent a very pleasant evening at The Duke of York. Kingsbury Band were playing carols by the fireside whilst we wined and dined. The service was good and the meals very good. We were with friends and the meals came pretty quickly. We had a wonderful evening eating, drinking and singing our way towards Christmas. Service and Food... More

Visited this place while visiting parents who live in the village. Don't be put off by first impressions, the food is excellent. Bar could do with a spruce up but don't detract from the super food. Even do homemade pizzas which kept my teenage twins very happy. We will be back when we visit the parents again. Thank you:)

Great food and very pleasant local pub. Visited this pub during our stay in the village. It's a pub with friendly staff and nice locals who made us feel very welcome.

A 'real' gem of a pub. Well kept cider and ales, honest food, dogs, a complete cross section of customers: everyone from senior business types, the local doctor, village locals to the shepherd and farm workers. Traditional skittle alley, paved terrace and comfortable en-suite accommodation. Well worth a visit.

We stayed 4 nights in the pub rooms out the back. We also had dinner 3 nights in the pub. Paul and Hayley are good hosts and they have a very good Chef, who I spoke to on a couple of nights as he brought meals out. The steaks are excellent as is the fish, portions and quality/freshness were first... More

It's hard to be neutral about a pub which is 20 yards from your front door, but this is a proper pub - excellent Otter Ale, guest beers (currently Potholer) and Thatchers Gold for the cider drinker. A good atmosphere, seems to get livelier in the evening, but pretty quiet and relaxed at lunchtimes and afternoons. Good food and an... More

My wife and I have visited the pub on a Thursday lunch time where a good value lunch is served. The choice of mains and sweets is really good. Well cooked and well presented.

Called in for a drink with friends who thought the pub would be good. Was disappointed to find the person who said he was the landlord appeared to be drunk - he was certainly offensive and not at all welcoming. We left after only one drink and will not be returning.

Sorry you were disappointed with your visit. We had returned from a pub visit to horse racing and we're met with a group of people who had moved all the tables and chairs and had blocked the rear entrance, access to the toilets and more importantly the fire exit. The landlord asked you very politely to put the furniture back... More
