We went for exactly the same reasons as Sparkleydemon and had pretty much the same experience. Although it was very busy we were promptly seated and drinks soon followed. Starters (onion bhajis) were to be honest pretty tasty with generous portions. THEN... My tandoori mixed grill arrived on a plate not a sizzler and was uniformly pink...and uniformly tasteless, and... More

Went here after hearing good things and seeing it had won 'best curry house in teesside' but was disappointed. On arriving it was shabby looking, both inside and out. Interior could do with some major updating, we also thought it was very cramped with tables only a few inches away from each other. Our drink order was taken quickly and... More

Had heard good review's so decided to try it ourselves. Met at the door as soon as we arrived and shown to our table - no being kept waiting. Quaint surroundings comfortable not flash. Good service - came for a drinks order quickly and brought menu's. Popadoms & pickles were excellent. Food arrived promptly and was excellent. The chicken dishes... More

Visited here after hearing it had won the best indian restaurant in the area. The interior and seating is very run down, we were seated on a long table which at first we thought was a mistake. Later in the evening they sat a couple at the end of our table which was awkward. The food was average, definitely had... More

My daughter wanted to try this Indian after her school friend said it was good. What a mistake we made. The interior is shabby disgustingly grubby. The Biryani was a greasy mess the curry accompaniment was best described as oxtail soup with curry powder mixed into it. My daughters meal was chicken makhani which was passable but she couldn't eat... More

I have been using the cottage for over 20 years. Always great service, brilliant food and a friendly welcome. Eat in or take away I receive the same, great service. The best Indian restaurant in the Teesside area.

I've never understood the attraction with this restaurant. Food and service was poor and although the atmosphere was good, it felt like you were sat in someone's house as opposed to a restaurant. Jump in the car/taxi and head to Redcar, much better.

Weekend evening booking for a quiet family get together. The restaurant was half full. The room was not plush, but the seating was comfortable. The atmosphere was relaxed. Some Indian pop music was playing, but it was pretty inconspicuous. The service was pleasant and quick, without hovering around you (which goes a long way for me). Trying to pick out... More

We ordered for take away I had tandoori chicken off the bone and my husband ordered chicken tikka dopiaza, my chicken did not taste anything like tandoori in the slightest. You got plenty chicken pieces but it just tasted of plain chicken. The dopiaza was tasteless. We have just moved to the area and thought we would try out. Will... More
