The food at the ship has drastically gone down hill. Prices have gone up and quality of food has gone down. Portion sizes are ridiculous considering the price. The chicken parmesans used to be delicious but they are now poor quality thin chicken and are half of the size they used to be. The meals look as though they have... More

Despite visiting Yarm and eating out in the area quite often, I'd never been to this place before, or knew it existed. First impressions were good, and I like the (New England?) style décor and vibe. First impressions were enhanced further by the very enjoyable premium draft (German?) lager and reasonable bar prices. I was tempted to go four star... More

We have been here twice now both times the service was not good this was echoed in the quality of the food. Quite a busy Sunday lunch serving after waiting for a good forty minutes to be told our lunch would be a further 20 minutes as they had run out of potatoes was not encouraging. We had lunch without... More

Couldn't fault the service or the atmosphere, really nice pub, however it is such a shame that the food lets it down! I had the chicken parmo which was completely thin and really greasy (skinny tasteless fries came with it) and then the home made chocolate fudge cake which came with a tasteless white chocolate sauce... Will definitely not be... More

A good meal with some lovely choices. Cream and garlic mushrooms are lovely. The giant 'parmo' is great. The best meal by far is the fish pie, lovely and juicy with plenty of fish. Expensive for 4 adults - only 2 starters and no sweets, drink each = £80 No real atmosphere - bit lifeless

Family Birthday meal early mid week was spoilt by daughter getting served a stale brochette starter, like a rock, the waiters response was "We had complaints at dinner time that they were stale" ............... Why the hell are you still serving them that evening if you know that they should be thrown in the Bin. Never been back ......... I... More

Visited following an excellent review in The Northern Echo last week. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Reasonable choice for each course and all homemade -prefer a reasonable choice done well like this to a large choice poorly done. Portions a good size so choose a light starter if you want 3 courses. Food good quality and nicely served - will... More

Despite living in the area all my life this was my first visit to the ship. I suspect it has recently undergone renovation and perhaps a change of management. Its a very pleasant place for lunch with the service, food and prices very good. I shall certainly revisit
