great sunday afternoon

My family and I visited this lovely pub on a sunday afternoon. We were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome we received from the owners. They had live music on and this was also excellent, I think they were called Dub Scouts and I hope they will be playing there again as will definitely go. We... read more

I'm sorry to read that Sheila M had a disappointing visit. Fancy going to a pub in the middle of nowhere in midweek and finding that they don't offer a full a la carte menu! Tsk, Tsk - men at the bar drinking pints of beer - whatever next? After all, they've only got 5 excellent cask ales on at... More

What a disappointment! Went for lunch midweek only to find they only offer light lunches. Must say that entering this pub was daunting. Through the door straight into the bar with men sitting pints in hand, drinking at the bar. Silence as they turn to look at you. Alongside that it was dark and the lady behind the bar was... More

TIP!! Always book in advance as this is a popular restaurant for locals and visitors alike, especially at weekends. Although there is a wait for the food, it is well worth it. Everything is freshly cooked to order and is wonderful. Prices are very reasonable indeed. The service is friendly without being over-bearing with very helpful staff. It is best... More

We popped in here a couple of times in July whilst out and about in the area, we just had the lunch menu but what superb sandwiches/baguettes they were, the staff were so friendly and attentive and remembered us on our 2nd visit. I studied the menu and there was such a good choice of home cooked dishes at reasonable... More

Just like the last reviewer I found the bar staff unhelpful. I had to wait for her to finish a game of dice with a customer and when I asked for a sandwich at 2.45 I was told they had just finished. We had a bad lunch here a couple of months ago and today is the last visit. Ever.

It's very rare for me to write a bad review but all I can say is that I'm shocked at how the staff (I belive she may have been the land lady but I'm not 100% sure!) spoke to me. She was disgracefully rude and only seemed bother about the men she had sat around the bar so I won't... More

This pub has lots of character I enjoy coming here for a few drinks and a game of pool on the weekend. I always try to book for food but always fully booked so that must mean it is very popular for food, I will have to book it!

With some many pubs closing down these days, you wonder why, look into the Bell and you will find out why. Here you will find the Landlady and Landlord hands on and ready to greet you. They really enjoy what they do, and the food is good old English pub food, cooked on the premises at prices you wont believe.... More
