When I visited the Hermit with Father, we sampled the lunch menu rather than the evening dinner menu. Father had the Hermit's take on a hot dog which was a large part of a baguette filled with a sausage and shallots. A large salad was included with skinny fries (french fries) My dish was that stalwart of the northern home... More

You receive a warm welcome IF you are eating, if you want to just pop in for a drink you get more or less ignored by the management ! This is a shame as it's a nice pub and welcomes dogs .

Table for 3 and a puppy! dogs are allowed in the casual dining area which a big plus for many. Large garden area out back and nice seating area in front for more casual dining, Staff, especially Naomi extremely welcoming. Food delicious especially the great fish and chips, so well presented haddock and so well cooked. Large and varied dessert... More

Have frequented this pub on and off over the years and food was always good. Changed management and now gastropub. Sadly not impressed when we had lunch there recently. Food overpriced for amount and quality, and staff too pushy. Sorry, won't be dining there again.

We arrived as a group of 8 while staying in the area. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a warm welcome and accommodating service. We'd like to give a special acknowledgement to Daniel who was without doubt the most attentive host and server we had all ever experienced. This place really has everything - great food, great... Had a really lovely meal. Waiter was attentive throughout. Had left phone at home when decided to book so had to use email. They were efficient and responded quickly with times available. Warm and friendly welcome on arrival. Would recommend to anyone who wants a nice relaxing evening meal out that is reasonably priced.

Fabulous food - great in winter or summer! Fabulous seating inside and outside. Food is great, the menu changes frequently and the wine menu is good too. Service is top notch. Sunday lunch is amazing too.

Went on a Friday every for father in laws 70's birthday. 7 of of us. Staff we really friendly and professional. Lovely ambiance and feel about the place. The food was superb. The scallops to start and the baked Camembert were great. We all had separate mains, all looked and tasted wonderful. I had the trio of lamb, this as... More
