Great dining option in a pleasant village pub

Situated in Duxford village, very close to the Imperial War Museum, this pub is a very good option for a nice meal. We were greeted with a warm welcoming atmosphere and decided to have some lunch. Today we turned up on spec to eat lunch at 12.35 not an unreasonable thought. No says the grumpiest bar man we have ever met. 'I have 15 block booking to serve in garden and 10 in dining room. I will not take your order it could be anything from 30 mins to an hour before the kitchen can take... More

I have been here a few times now but felt compelled to write a review after my most recent visit. Four of us stopped here for a business lunch and the whole experience was very good. The service was great and the food was amazing, a little pricey for the area but still a very enjoyable experience.

We were glad we had chosen the 'The John Barleycorn' for our stay in the Duxford/Cambridge area. They have four wonderful rooms (all named after a pilot in the RAF during WWII). Nick was as friendly as anyone can be, and his breakfast the best "full English breakfast" in the UK. Also dinner was excellent, we ate there both nights... More

On our first trip to the UK for 10 years, this was our first B&B of the trip. And it was a really good experience. The Pub itself had all the Olde Worlde Charm with thatched roof that we wanted, the meal in the restaurant was great, & the accommodation was very good value for the £60. Lots of WW11... More

I only had drinks and some cheese and biscuits, the cheese and biscuits were expensive fro the quantity and type of cheese on offer. The place itself was really nice and the staff were as well. My only real gripe if you can call it that? It was really quiet, I mean really quiet. You could hear yourself talking, and... More

My partner took me for a surprise birthday meal yesterday 29 dec 2014. Food was amazing very reasonably priced. For 10 people with 2 courses 2 drinks each it was 170 pounds. Very good service thoroughly enjoyed it!! Lovely staff :)

... and well above "usual" pub standards. Situated in Duxford village, very close to the historic Duxford Aerodrome and Imperial War Museum aviation collection this thatched house has a big bar dining area, and when the weather is clement very nice outdoor tables, plus a few letting rooms, for those who want to stay after dinner! Our small party had... More

We arrived at 7pm for a few drinks before our meal . The pub was not over busy but it was a Wednesday evening . After a chat we sat down for our meal . Having picked what we wanted when booking it was straight forward on the evening . The starters were well presented and looked nice . The... More

Been visiting the pub for many years for both drink and food. As others have said, the staff are friendly and helpful and also the beer is well looked after. I have mused a number of times after eating there that perhaps the value is not that good and the food not quite as good as they think it tries... More
