Excellent Pub Grub

With some Italian colleagues so wanted them to try a good sound English pub and the JB did not let us down. All excellent food with the special pie a real hit. All seasoned really well and the wine and beer also good. prices are just what youd expect to pay and friendly staff as well.

Free house Pub with a good menu. I ate Venison haunch the first night (a little bit chewy compared to previous experience) and my son had fish & chips. Second night, I ate the fish while he had a "grazing platter" which was equally delightful. The abbott ale was very good.

Great old world charm with RAF Duxford history all over the walls...fascinating stuff. Good cask ale and a lovely Steak and Stilton sandwich. Will be taking my Dad there as he'd love it...beer and planes!

A pleasant evening in this thatched 17th century pub. Greene King beers plus two guest ales. Then a very tasty meal in the restaurant section. Seating -- at wooden pew style benches -- is not the most comfortable in the world but the surroundings are very charming and the service left nothing to be desired. Food was fine (though I... More

Situated in Duxford village, very close to the Imperial War Museum, this pub is a very good option for a nice meal. We were greeted with a warm welcoming atmosphere and decided to have some lunch. The menu is quite comprehensive with reasonable prices. We both had the pie of the day (chicken & mushroom) served with mash or chips.... More

Today we turned up on spec to eat lunch at 12.35 not an unreasonable thought. No says the grumpiest bar man we have ever met. 'I have 15 block booking to serve in garden and 10 in dining room. I will not take your order it could be anything from 30 mins to an hour before the kitchen can take... More

I have been here a few times now but felt compelled to write a review after my most recent visit. Four of us stopped here for a business lunch and the whole experience was very good. The service was great and the food was amazing, a little pricey for the area but still a very enjoyable experience.

We were glad we had chosen the 'The John Barleycorn' for our stay in the Duxford/Cambridge area. They have four wonderful rooms (all named after a pilot in the RAF during WWII). Nick was as friendly as anyone can be, and his breakfast the best "full English breakfast" in the UK. Also dinner was excellent, we ate there both nights... More

On our first trip to the UK for 10 years, this was our first B&B of the trip. And it was a really good experience. The Pub itself had all the Olde Worlde Charm with thatched roof that we wanted, the meal in the restaurant was great, & the accommodation was very good value for the £60. Lots of WW11... More

I only had drinks and some cheese and biscuits, the cheese and biscuits were expensive fro the quantity and type of cheese on offer. The place itself was really nice and the staff were as well. My only real gripe if you can call it that? It was really quiet, I mean really quiet. You could hear yourself talking, and... More
