The Black Horse is a family owned Inn with character and style set in a small hamlet in Bedfordshire. The Black Horse was built in the 17th Century, and although it has been updated and given a contempory style, it still holds its charm and character. With it's exposed original beams, inglenook fireplace and low ceilings, the bar is warm and welcoming - perfect for relaxing with a drink or a glass of wine. The restaurant consists of two distinct dining areas each offering their own unique style and atmosphere with either garden or courtyard outlooks. Our seasonally changed menu's use only the freshest ingredients sourced locally (where possible). The dishes are expertly prepared and presented by a team of highly qualified chef's.

My favourite place to eat!

I absolutely love The Black horse. I've been several times an it's always as good as the last- if not better. The service is great, staff are polite and attentive. Food is of very high standard and Cooked to perfection. It was mine and my friends birthdays and we both received cards and birthday... read more

The fish pie was very poor - very messy with a lump of potato in the middle. The other parts of the service was very good.

Went for a birthday treat. It was good, they even gave me a birthday card. The food was excellent and looked good on the plate. The wine list was extensive and we tried a spanish wine, something new for us and it was good and different. Would definitely go again but would like them to cater a little more for... More

We have been here a few times now and have been twice on a Saturday lunchtime. Lunch menu has fish and chips. You get the biggest piece of deep fried fish in the lightest of batter. The fish is always cooked to perfection. Unfortunately now I cannot eat fish and chips any where else it just does not compare. This... More

This place was recommended by The Old Piggery accommodation and they were absolutely right. Lovely food, lovely service, good value. Would have liked something appropriate for small ones - doesn't need to be a cheesy 'kids menu' but there isn't much an ordinary four year old would like! But other than that, just delightful!

Small group of ten people met to enjoy a relaxed lunch in Ireland, nr Shefford. An extensive menu which keep everyone happy, staff looked after us with ease and we left full and happy. Just the location for a 'special' meal with loved one or family.

Having been regulars at The Black Horse a couple of years ago, prior to moving out of the area, we returned to stay in one of their two rooms, which were superb. We had forgotten just what a wonderful location this lovely country pub is set in. Surrounded by fields of ripening corn, it is perfect, either for a relaxed... More

Restaurant is set in nice surroundings, with parking on site. Staff were very attentive and friendly but not pretentious and nothing was too much trouble. There were 4 of us in our party and we all very much enjoyed our meals. It does get very busy (Friday night) so pre booking is probably necessary. We will definitely return soon! Price... More

We had a very nice posh meal at the pub, food was excellent and so was the service. It's a touch on the dear side but worth the visit and the experience. Will be back there for sure!
