The Black Horse is a family owned Inn with character and style set in a small hamlet in Bedfordshire. The Black Horse was built in the 17th Century, and although it has been updated and given a contempory style, it still holds its charm and character. With it's exposed original beams, inglenook fireplace and low ceilings, the bar is warm and welcoming - perfect for relaxing with a drink or a glass of wine. The restaurant consists of two distinct dining areas each offering their own unique style and atmosphere with either garden or courtyard outlooks. Our seasonally changed menu's use only the freshest ingredients sourced locally (where possible). The dishes are expertly prepared and presented by a team of highly qualified chef's.

Another out of the way gen!

Brilliant food & great staff. Had not been there for a while but the food was just as good, never had a bad meal, we had Sunday lunch which was just sumptuous and would go back any day. They have minimised the menu which makes it easier to decide!

Very good gastro pub that never fails to deliver. Food quality is always to high standard with very friendly staff. The restaurant is well invested and one of the best in the local area.

We went with friends to celebrate a number of birthdays. Table was booked for 8.15pm and we arrived at 7.30pm. The restaurant was very busy, by 8.10pm no menus had been offered to us, and one of my party registered our concerns at the bar. The menus then arrived and we were shown to the table at around 8.30pm. For... More

First some background, I have eaten at The Black Horse on about 3 or 4 occasions previously, both for dinner and lunch, and always been very satisfied - not this time! We were a party of six, three couples, and eat out every month, this time 4 of us have birthdays within a week, so it was something of a... More

This used to be one of my favourite restaurants but In the last 3 years it has gone down hill. Service is slow, menu is limited (rarely changes), and their is no child menu which would not be an issue however there are equally no child friending dishes on the menu. The food is ok but I would say for... More

Table booked in advance, and very fortunate so as they were turning people away until 9:30pm. Lovely atmosphere, very welcoming staff in the bar area. Restaurant was full, yet you felt like you were the only people dining with the intimate service we received. We went for a special occasion and were impressed with the small details of Happy Birthday... More

My husband and I stopped at this "pub" for coffee a few years ago and commented that it looked like a great place for dinner, but a bit far from home. Looking for somewhere different for dinner on my husband's birthday, we decided to try out this countryside gem. Exiting the car in the car park we hoped that our... More

This pub/restaurant came highly recommended to us, and we could not but agree! The welcome was brilliant without being intrusive. Service was excellent. The food was tasty, good portions and well presented, really delicious flavour combinations. We particularly recommend the vegetarian choices.

Three of us had lunch at this oldy worldy pub come restaurant. The food quality was exceptional and the service was outstanding. A quality establishment in all ways. Set in the lush country side, we had a beautiful sunny day which made it even better. A great find for

Very impressed with the entire meal. It was the first time we had ever been and I am a very fussy eater. On arrival there was a birthday card for me waiting on the table. The Pea & Mint Soup of the day was delicious, the Pan Fried chicken served with mini Chicken & Mushroom Pie, mash and spinach was... More
