The Black Horse is a family owned Inn with character and style set in a small hamlet in Bedfordshire. The Black Horse was built in the 17th Century, and although it has been updated and given a contempory style, it still holds its charm and character. With it's exposed original beams, inglenook fireplace and low ceilings, the bar is warm and welcoming - perfect for relaxing with a drink or a glass of wine. The restaurant consists of two distinct dining areas each offering their own unique style and atmosphere with either garden or courtyard outlooks. Our seasonally changed menu's use only the freshest ingredients sourced locally (where possible). The dishes are expertly prepared and presented by a team of highly qualified chef's.

Amazing birthday dinner

This was our first visit to the Black Horse but it definitely won't be our last! The food was delicious and the service friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommended but you need to book!

To start with I want to say all five of us have visited here in the past and had a lovely meal, this time was very different. First two of us get water tipped over us, then forget my starter that then took another 10mins to arrive, main meals come but forgot steak knives, then one of us had a... More

We've visited this pub a few times. The food quality has always been excellent, and a good range to choose from. The service, however has been inconsistent. I think sometimes they over-book and then can't meet the demand. There is also a very strange system of service, whereby you never seem to see the same person twice. I don't think... More

We visited for our anniversary, we are fairly regular visitors to this restaurant and generally the food and service are very good. Last night we arrived at 745 for an 815 booking and sat having a drink unfortunately there was a mix up with the table and we didn't get seated until 9 and only after asking then things felt... Visited with my husband. Stayed over in the amazing lodge in the garden. So comfortable didn't want to leave. Our food was brilliant. My husbands fillet steak almost melted in your mouth.... staff attentive & friendly. Can't wait to return.

Visited one Thursday lunch, service was good, food excellent. A little slow on the waiting time but it was a sunny day and we were outside so it wasn't an issue. I can imagine it being slow during busy periods. Lots of character, would recommend.

This busy country pub is in a lovely location and has an extensive menu (book early) and it is outstanding in every way. My friends and I had a lovely lunch and I then stayed in one of only two rooms overnight. The dinner was of the same high standard supported by a B&B of the highest standard.

We've eaten at the Black Horse many times over a period of several years, and it also has a strong local reputation that make it a safe choice to return to. Our visit today was satisfactory but I'm scoring it harshly relative to very high expectations. The full car park is a sign of the continuing popularity, and I still... More

After reading up some great reviews and hearing good things we thought we'd take the journey and find out for ourselves. Was not disappointed, lovely welcome on arrival, very attentive staff with good recommendations for wine and food, very well presented and perfectly cooked food!! 10/10. Thank you!
