The Black Horse is a family owned Inn with character and style set in a small hamlet in Bedfordshire. The Black Horse was built in the 17th Century, and although it has been updated and given a contempory style, it still holds its charm and character. With it's exposed original beams, inglenook fireplace and low ceilings, the bar is warm and welcoming - perfect for relaxing with a drink or a glass of wine. The restaurant consists of two distinct dining areas each offering their own unique style and atmosphere with either garden or courtyard outlooks. Our seasonally changed menu's use only the freshest ingredients sourced locally (where possible). The dishes are expertly prepared and presented by a team of highly qualified chef's.

Delicious Muntjac Venison Ragu

My husband and I had lunch here on a Monday. The pubs reputation is such that we were lucky to get a table without having booked, even on a Monday. I had the Muntjac ragu with tagliatelle. It was slow cooked, rich, flavoursome and unctuous!! My husband had the steak burger. He was less happy with... read more

We visited for late Sunday lunch because it was listed in the Good Pub Guide as Bedfordshire's dining pub of the year and could understand why on our arrival. Staff very helpful and friendly and the interior design is very tastefully done. The reason I have only given it an average score is that we were so disappointed with our... More

Went for a midday meal as a group of four. All had something slightly different and everyone as delighted with their meal. Extremely well cooked and presented. Staff really helpful and very professional. Will go again in the near future.

Been to the Black Horse many times but this was the first time for Mother's Day (booked in January - gets booked up VERY early). Friendly reception, table ready on time, great food and wine, good service - the whole nine yards. Highly, highly recommended.

living locally heard about this place and decided to give it a go. As soon as we walked through the door had the warmest of welcomes and a feeling of happy environment. Food out of this world cannot fault the food or service decor classy A great find

Previous visits have been wonderful (extensive menu, wonderful cooking, top-notch service), but I was left a little bemused after our latest lunch. It's not as though the food wasn't good. Everything was cooked as it should be, presented nicely and washed down with a reasonable white wine. The pub itself was immaculate as always and very welcoming, but I think... More

The menu was poor and not much choice, the food was not up to its usual standard, crab and prawn starter was like soup, main course there was not much choice the desert was not as we expected. Just to finish no cream for the coffee. I did not post this review until now as I thought we may have... More

Everything was excellent apart from the conservatory area was a bit too noisy. So if you are hard of hearing make sure you ask for a table in another area!!
