Fine old Inn with excellent food

Locally caught fare was high on the list here, and the standard of food was very good indeed. Local ales in good condition (Taylor's Landlord, and Copper Dragon featured). There's a Walkers' Bar for those stopping off in their gear, or a more grand bar with comfy seating and an open fire - it seems... read more

All I can say is £50.87 for 1 fish and chips and 1 rabbit pie and mash (both of which were OK but not spectacular) with three pints of bitter and two glasses of wine is beyond reasonable even for a captive audience in a beautiful Hamlet in a beautiful part of England.

I had expected standard-but-good pub grub but was pleasantly surprised. I had locally caught trout which had been cooked in a paper bag and stuffed with fennel, served with perfectly cooked herby carrots and parsnips and mash, which was warming and replenishing after walking outside, and my husband really enjoyed his chicken pie. Food arrived promptly and service was friendly.... More

Stayed here overnight as we ended up in the area in the darkness. As it's relative remote seemed a great place for a bite! Fire was on, people friendly, menu nice and varied, yummy for the tummy again for reasonable prices. Great Rabbit Pie! The fire place, the whole atmosphere was warm.

Looks inviting from the outside once inside it was warm but no one about, a bar maid met us and we ordered two drinks £8.40 bit steep to say the least. There were a group of lads in later on and they were ordering pints of beer and were complaining amongst themselves £4.60 a pint that's dear that best go... More

We had several meals here over the weekend and it is definitely a very special place. Every dish we tried was just so very very tasty. Lots of locally sourced produced. The Eggs Benedict is probably the best I have ever had. We had game one night and this was just amazingly cooked. The very homely feel and good quality... More

I ve been off work recently and thought I would go for a walk. Had lunch here - menu is tatty and you wonder whether you should pop over the road instead but I am glad I didnt. The food was absolutely gorgeous - fresh home made huge burger. Home made chips and home made onion rings piled on top.... More

Disappointing It was New Years Day so Malham was quite busy. Although by the time we arrived for a drink and a quick pub meal at 4pm most of the hordes had headed home. By the end our meal we wish we had joined them or at the very least headed round the corner to the Lister Arms. The service... More

The Buck Inn décor is very tired in places- our room was pleasant enough over looking the river at the front but a bit cramped. The food was good if not over facing. I would say there were not enough staff to cope with the Xmas patronage difficult to get a drink at times it was so busy. Still it... More
