Lovely location, great food and service

Sitting out on the deck by the river, experiencing so much of the fabulous birdlife that Costa Rica has to offer, was a treat in itself. The local smoked trout for lunch with a chilled glass of wine just added to the experience as well as the excellent and friendly service by Evelyn. It was also... read more

We stopped here after exploring the long, twisty, bumpy downhill road to San Gerardo off the Interamericana, and it was a great respite from the constant state of alert of driving in second gear. Relaxing tables by the stream, the company of hummingbirds just next to us, very pleasant service, and the quality of the food was excellent. We both... More

We weren't so happy with the meals at our nearby hotel, arrived here too late the first evening (it closes at 6, last orders a bit earlier), so came here the following 2 nights to eat at 5. It is a lovely wooden building, you can sit out (but have something warm on) or in - nicely furnished. The menu... More

Ate there once. Location was superb, seating was outdoor in the cloud forest overlooking a river. Local dog came to see what we were about. Most of the dishes on the menu feature trout which comes from the river you watch rush by. Service was friendly and quick (though there was no one else there). Food was very reasonably priced,... Great food in a superb environment, and at a very reasonable price! I had a trout ceviche, pasta with smoked trout and a juice (tamarind with cinnamon), all for $18. The menu is limited to about 20 options (10 appetizers, 5 main dishes and 5 sandwiches), most of them trout-based, but everything is scrumptious and extremely fresh (they even have... More

This is one of the nicest spots in the area. Located in front of the river lots of birds come to visit making it a magical spot. They grow their own veggies and their Trout Cevice (cooked with lemon) is the best cevice I have eaten in my life. After eating you can walk through the their trails to the... More

My family had a wonderful lunch at this restaurant right on the water. After lunch we walked around the grounds enjoying all the hummingbirds and silky flycatchers.

Most of the menu was comprised of trout (spanish: trucha) dishes. They grow their own veggies. The trout omes from the trout farms which are very close by and clearly of high quality. I'm not sure if I would recommend the restaurant to people who would not consider trout. Luckily we liked the trout very much and found the food... More
