Beautifully presented local produce. I had the pheasant which was a first for me with nettle soup aperitif. Fresh bread and a fantastic choice of wines. I have read a couple of negative reviews on advisor, the surroundings I can imagine might not be to every bodies taste but to slate the food would lead me to believe that these... More

A fantastic end to a great holiday in Cornwall, the food was fresh and delicious and was paired with a nice bottle of Cab Sav. Congrats to the chief!

The food was excellent but the restaurant lacked ambience and front of house left a lot to be desired and did not match the food. Discovered that owners are trying to sell and it showed.

Having read the reviews, we were eager to book this restaurant for our last night in Cornwall. We went early so that we could have their early evening menu. Maybe their full menu is better but we all felt that the food was overrated and portions were not balanced e.g. a good portion of salmon with about two spoonfuls of... More

We saw this advertised in the Trencherman Guide as an up and coming dining spot. After visiting we did not share the sentiments of the write up in the Trencherman Guide. We had booked a table and arrived on time. There was nobody in the restaurant when we arrived but eventually a member of staff appeared from the kitchen area... More

The food was fabulous, freshly cooked, nicely presented and wholesome. The only problem was a nice one - which dishes to choose. We enjoyed it so much the first night that we booked a second night as we were paying. The second was just as good as the first. The Lamplighter richly deserves the two rosettes it has been earning... More

Just passing through and pleased I stopped. A good selction from a simple menu, well presented, beautifully cooked. And excellent value too! I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant.

Hidden gem. My absolute favourite restaurant in Cornwall. Lamplighter offers phenomenal food and wine in a small, family-run restaurant at very reasonable prices. We've been going for years when visiting friends who live locally and have never been disappointed by Mairead's welcome and wonderful wine selection or Rob's superb cooking. My personal favourite starter is the blue cheese souffle with... More

We live five miles away from Lamplighter, and we reckon it's the best place in Cornwall. Chef Rob used to be the head chef on the QE2, and it shows. From the amuse-gueule to start, through the first course (you MUST have the squid), the mains (the fish is a real treat, and the meat is always great) and the... More

We had a very nice meal despite lack of atmosphere as the only people there. The service was good and the food was very nice indeed
