Great food

This was my first visit in 5 years so it was great to see the food was of the same high standard that I remembered. On the negative, one of my friends thought the ambience lacked something. However we had a great lunch and we all agreed we would certainly come again.

My partner and I went to Soljans for Valentines and we were not disappointed. The entire experience was excellent, from the welcome at the door, nice atmosphere, food and service in general. We have been there before and think that this is an excellent restaurant, next to one of the best wineries in Kumeu, however the prices could be a... More

Had family visiting from Reno USA. Took them to Arataki, Piha then onto SoljansCafe. What a great choice of venue. Some of our group started the experience with wine tasting. How times of changed. Back in the 60s and 70s (Golden Sunset Vineyards with the wondetful Joe,Johnny and Kate Balich RIP.) I remember wine tasting was free! So was some... More

We went to but wines here but were very disappointed with the amounts given to taste. There was hardly enough to taste also when we asked to taste another wine we were told "it is not being opened today"! Tell that to the wine makers in France and they would laugh as they are only to willing to offer their... More

Dear AB34210, I am disappointed to read that you did not think you were given enough complimentary wine to taste. A tasting sample is normally about 25mls which is more than enough for people to see of the wine suits them or not and if you had asked for another sample I am sure the shop staff would have given... It was great to find this cafe on a long drive from Paihia to Aukland however it under delivered a bit on food and coffee. It's more like a restaurant so we had hoped for tastier food. Ok just not great. Had scallops ( too much bacon) and smoked salmon ( too little salmon) all a bit heavy.

Dear Joanne P, I was also glad you found us also but disapointing for me that the food and coffee were not up to the standard expected. It is our goal to provide very high quality food and service at all times so it disapoints me when this is not maintained for whatever reason. I shall be discussing your points... More

we had lunch in the restaurant. it was very busy, but we always felt like we were the only ones in the restaurant. Extensive wine & food selection at reasonable prices for the service etc. received. We couldn't fault the meal, thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience, including a winery tour and tasting at the end.

We came here for our end of year/end of project function (25+ people) and I didn't get one complaint from my boss which is a first! The staff were attentive and accomodating when we needed a few more seats at last minute, and the best bit was there were good options for halal and vegetarians, and the games outside kept... More

Didn't really plan to go here, just knew we wanted to eat at a winery and wow did this place do the job. From the chicken liver pate and pumpkin bread to start, to the kids meals, to the scallops, chicken and perfectly cooked pork belly (crispy cracking was amazing!) this place delivered. And as you'd hope, the wine was... More

I had the pleasure of having lunch there today. I had the Roasted Duck Breast in Mandarin Sauce and my husband the Pan Fried Eye Fillet. Both were exceptional. The Duck skin was crispy and the meat melt in your mouth soft . The accompanying Parsnip puree was like silk and a good contrast to the piquant Mandarin sauce. The... More
