I had the pleasure of having lunch there today. I had the Roasted Duck Breast in Mandarin Sauce and my husband the Pan Fried Eye Fillet. Both were exceptional. The Duck skin was crispy and the meat melt in your mouth soft . The accompanying Parsnip puree was like silk and a good contrast to the piquant Mandarin sauce. The... More

Dear JudyGS367, I enjoyed reading your review and I think there are a couple of positives to look at. I am pleased that you found it good for your 2 yr old grandson, being very family orientated ourselves we want families to look at Soljans as the place to come for Birthdays, get togethers, etc because there is lots of... Have been going to Soljans on and off ever since they opened as we live/work not far away. It is a great place to bring overseas guests for a spot of wine tasting before having a great light meal here for lunch. Today was a group of four for a business lunch, we had excellent service and the food was... More

Dear Rob J, I thank you for writing a review, we do appreciate it. I like your point about bringing overseas visitors because we do try to show them good NZ food and hospitality and make them feel welcome in a Kiwi / Croatian way. We do a lot of business lunches as well and it is a matter of... More

Our ( husband and I )first visit was with 2 friends while we took 2 Porsches for a test drive on a Saturday. We didn't book for lunch, just turned up. The place was busy but we got a table quickly. The service was friendly, quick, and the food was great. We had the squid salad, the duck , with... More

Our group of "Wicked Women" met for lunch recently. We sat out under the awning. It was a lovely sunny day and because we had not seen each other for a while lots of gossip was going on! We were not rushed to order and enjoyed a couple of glasses of Soljans good savvy pre lunch. We ordered the set... More

I recently attended a wedding here with my partner and was very disappointed with the service from the moment we arrived. For example, we asked for a drink when we arrived and were told "drinks only for family". I informed the waitress that we were family & was then told "well I have no idea who anyone is" and subsequently... More

I was very disapointed to read your review but make no excuses. If any of my staff were anything but friendly and helpful to you at all times, I apologise. Under no circumstances do I condone lack of respect to any of our guests and I am therefore quite shocked at your comments. On some occations, like this wedding, we... More

The only reason that I haven't given this a 2 star rating is that we were there as part of a large group and so had a set menu. Hopefully the full menu is more interesting.

... The set menu was 'unexciting' at best. It started with mini loaves of bread with oil and balsamic vinegar. Fairly nondescript and not what... More
