This is the second time I have dined at the Saracens Head. Unfortunately this time wasn't as good as last. I had a Ploughmans Lunch. While it was a lot better than the Ploughmans I had at the Sparrowhawk last week, it still wasn't great. 3 different pickles is a bit much. The gammon was excellent, as was the pork... More

Went this evening with a party of 8. All food great and service top notch. Had a table over looking the Canal and watched the boats chug past as we ate. Starters, Mains & puddings came out in a timely manner with no one waiting.Good kids play area for post meal tire out is great.

Ate here on a couple of occasions and have been very impressed. Food is excellent and service top notch (Sophie) Prices are a little high but servings a large so there Is relative value. The décor is superb and this is very much a year round place to eat.

We enjoyed sitting by the window and looking out toward the canal. We noticed someone at the next table had to move because the light from the late afternoon was blinding him. So if you are concerned about this sit on the street side of the restaurant. You have to be very careful walking around the restaurant because they have... More

We've visited this lovely restaurant many times over the years, and although pricey has always been worthwhile for the location, service and quality. Obviously the location is still as good, but the quality and, in particular, the service were a big let down this time. My niece and her children had come up from Kent for a couple of days... More

Mmm yes we came back again from Liverpool City centre. The food is nice and tasty. I had a sirloin steak medium cooked with what looked like home made chips and a rocket salad yum yum. My wife had the pan fried salmon with broccoli and baby potatoes. We are now waiting for our deserts. I am having ice cream... More

We've visited The Saracens Head twice now and have thoroughly enjoyed the food on both occasions. The burgers are exceptional and the bread platters are a delight. I had a rump steak and it was nicely cooked and delicious. The peppercorn sauce was over salted and not peppered enough though. The interior is nice and cosy and the staff helpful... More

Linguini with tomato sauce which had about as much flavour as could be found in a tin of Heinze spaghetti, garlic prawns which were nicely cooked but without a hint of garlic.swordfish with pine nuts, hard to find any pine nuts, wine was average and service the same, will not be rushing back.

Felt compelled to write a review for the Saracens by some of the other reviews I have recently read here. We regularly visit for family meals, pub lunches etc and always find it to be excellent. The quality of the ingredients all locally sourced ensure the food is a cut above your chain restaurant food. The ambience is relaxed, chilled... More

Me and my partner were originally recommended this pub, and the first few visits were extremely pleasant! However, the last three visits have not been fantastic, inconsistent and quite frankly disappointing. One visit consisted of being served cold food, once it had been reheated was pretty tasteless. The most recent visit we were very much left alone - we waited... More
