Went for Sunday lunch after being recommended by friends .roast beef was chewy and roast potatoes not crunchy. Veg good portion. One friend had chicken piripiri found it dry and lacking piripiri. Nicely served but disappointing.good spot on the canal.

Weather was so lovely we decided on a whim to drive out to the countryside and came across the Saracen's Head by chance and decided to give it a go because of the setting on the canal bank. We were so glad we did because has to be one of the nicest pub lunches we have had for ages. We... More

Had a lovely lunch here on Friday afternoon. Sat in the beer garden next to the canal watching the boats while my little one was entertained with the kids play area. Food was hot, fresh and of the highest quality. Only waited around 15 mins despite it being busy. Children's portion of pasta was huge! My friend had to nip... More

We visited here for Lunch today, the food was good not fantastic but good! The service was mediocre the staff need more training they need to be told to remove the glasses when drinks are finished with they just dont seem to see them! But most of all the tables need a real good clean they were sticky and the... More

Having been to the Saracens about a year ago I took my wife to spoil her as we have just had our second child, well where do I start the place was packed but the lovely staff still found time to accommodate two adults a two year old and a new born (ill make sure we book next time), food... More

This venue has been beautifully renovated and is delightful, whether sitting outside by the Canal or inside. with the stylish comfortable decor. We had booked a table for Sunday lunch at 1.30 but on arrival at that time we were told that the previous occupants were still at our table and we would need to wait in the bar area... More

My wife and I came here as we had not been for over 20years. The place was nice and clean and well presented, the food was nice as well as were the drinks. The waiter was very helpful and the food came quite fast. The only let down was that some dirty person had left a lot of toilet paper... More

For the area, this is one of the better dining options - many of the pubs in the Maghull, Lydiate, Melling, Ormskirk, Burscough area are 2 for 1's or offer cheap boil in the bag meals that you wouldnt give to a dog. We tried here after some friends suggested it was quite good and on a hot summers day... More

This was our second visit to the Saracen's Head, the first being during the winter months so we didn't appreciate the setting. We sat outside next to the canal this time and watched tiny ducks with their mother and boats passing by whilst waiting for our food. My husband and daughter chose the ribs platter to share with garlic bread... More

Recently went here for the Beer Festival. What a great time we had sampling the guest beers.... All the staff worked so hard and were extremely pleasant and friendly. We had the sharing platter and it was very tasty. Great work Saracens !!!
