I have eaten twice here in the last two weeks and will continue to be a regular customer. Lovely staff, fantastic curry!

Those who like us were disappointed to see the demise of the original River Spice at the Forge Hammer will be delighted to see that the phoenix has risen. The restaurant has been redecorated/refurbished and has a look of warmth missing before. The food is prepared by a chef from southern India with all the mystery of cuisine from the... More

Only back as an Indian for two months after changing from Indian to Chinese. As Chinese is not my favourite our family avoided the pub/restaurant. But now back as Indian with a chef from Kerela in Southern India. The food is great, freshly cooked to order and spiced as it should be. Once established I'm sure theowner, Ali, will introduce... We initially went to the Courtfield Arms for a drink and some food during a kayak trip on the Wye. When one of the group asked for an Indian dish on the menu it was sadly sold out, but they proceeded to recommend the Indian restaurant WITHIN the pub round the corner?? A bit apprehensive we walked round to the... More

Having visited earlier this month with just my husband, we visited again last night with 6 friends, again we were highly impressed. The menu had all the usual curries you'd hope for alongside a range of specialite dishes too, all at a reasonable price. Everyone of the 8 of us enjoyed the meals and we will be returning again soon!

Decided to try the new Indian Restaurant at the Forge Hammer last Friday evening, what a great decision ! Was pleasantly surprised at the choice's on the menu and the only problem was deciding what to have. I opted for the Tandoori Prawns to start, they were delicious and although you only get two as a starter they were huge... More

Thank you Andy for bringing in yet another different eating experience to the Forest of Dean. The menu is different as the chef is from Kerala, but the choice of menu and the quality of the food excellent. The staff are welcoming and attentive and I still love the "back room" restaurant. The Forge offers a good meal out and... More

This used to be a pukka Indian restaurant hidden away in the Forest of Dean, which my sister and I tried a few years ago on the recommendation of another restaurant which was fully booked. By "pukka Indian" I mean it was at that time authentic Indian food (as opposed to the usual Bangladeshi fare). However, it must have changed... More

There has been no change of ownership at this back water pub in ten years, the only thing that has changed is the cuisine. The pizzas were amazing. Yes the Indian was fantastic and the Chinese was British Chinese. But now there is no dingy back bar restaurant at The Forge Hammer. I find it quite offending that you use... More
