Having lived in the Forest for over 15 years it has taken until now to find the most perfect Indian restaurant but the Spice River at the Forge Hammer is definately it. Ali and his staff go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The food is to die for, I recommend anything on the menu as you... More

This place is to be avoided as the service here rates amongst the worst you can get. After waiting at least 15 minutes to place our order while a member of staff to attempted unsuccessfully to figure out how to use the till, we asked what wine they had only to be told “we have these wines (pointing to a... Our B&B hostess recommended the Forge Hammer River Spice restaurant for authentic Indian food and we heartily endorse her recommendation. In particular the 'Innovative' section of the menu is a welcome change from the usual Indian restaurant fare, although if you prefer the familiar dishes such as Korma you can ask for them. The chef is from Kerala and, apart... More

Excellent food and service. The excellent coffee 'on the house' was the icing on the cake. Great restaurant, very friendly host. Also very good value. Four of us enjoyed a lovely meal, thanks for those personal touches

New to the area we looked into recommended places to eat and found that top of the list was River Spice Indian restaurant at The Forge Hammer pub just down the hill from our new house. We were eager to visit but waited to take visitors as it is always a better way to test out more dishes on the... More

My husband I were staying in a B&B about a mile and a half away and in the evening we wanted to go to a friendly, welcoming pub that had the rugby on TV. We found a gem! The pub was empty when we got there but as the match got closer to kick off.... It got busy with all... More

My wife and parents ate here twice during our recent short stay in Herefordshire. The return of an Indian restaurant to this pub was most welcome and Ali the new owner is a warm and welcoming host. The food is fresh and varied and offers dishes that you don't normally get at the usual northern Indian restaurants. There is plenty... More

Went here as part of a large group. Service was fantastic. The staff entered into our jovial mood and kept the drinks flowing. The food was nice. One of the starters involves Yorkshire puddings which sounds bizarre but is surprisingly nice. Everyone was happy with their food which is no mean feat when there are 15 of you!

My partner and I visited this pub on our first night in Upper Lynbrook and were very impressed; delicious food, some original menu options, good range for vegetarians, and friendly service. Would definitely return if we are in the area again!
