The best meal out we have had in many years.

New to the area we looked into recommended places to eat and found that top of the list was River Spice Indian restaurant at The Forge Hammer pub just down the hill from our new house. My husband I were staying in a B&B about a mile and a half away and in the evening we wanted to go to a friendly, welcoming pub that had the rugby on TV. We found a gem! The pub was empty when we got there but as the match got closer to kick off.... It got busy with all... More

My wife and parents ate here twice during our recent short stay in Herefordshire. The return of an Indian restaurant to this pub was most welcome and Ali the new owner is a warm and welcoming host. The food is fresh and varied and offers dishes that you don't normally get at the usual northern Indian restaurants. There is plenty... More

Went here as part of a large group. Service was fantastic. The staff entered into our jovial mood and kept the drinks flowing. The food was nice. One of the starters involves Yorkshire puddings which sounds bizarre but is surprisingly nice. Everyone was happy with their food which is no mean feat when there are 15 of you!

My partner and I visited this pub on our first night in Upper Lynbrook and were very impressed; delicious food, some original menu options, good range for vegetarians, and friendly service. Would definitely return if we are in the area again!

Had the menu for their takeaway drop through the letterbox and thought we'd give it a try as they had some of my favorite dishes on; Paneer Tikka and Malai Kofta. Prices were reasonable but the portion sizes for starters were very small i.e. three 1" square pieces in both the Salmon and Paneer Tikka's. This would have been ok... More

Hi Dagog The management at River Spice welcome all feedback/reviews received and are understandably disappointed that our valued customer was unhappy with the some of the dishes chosen. The Riverside Spice was recommended to us by the owners of the B&B we were staying at in Lydbrook and I must write to say what wonderful meals we were served, the food was tasty and served at a nice temperature. The staff are really pleasant and the restaurant was really nicely done. As it is at the back of... More

After a busy day helping family move to Lydbrook the Indian Restaurant in The Forge Hammer was a peach of a find. Not only was the food excellent, the service was friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be returning.

What a lovely surprise! We are visiting the area and wanted to eat out on a Tuesday evening. We found most pubs shut, then found this friendly bar with an Indian restaurant. Good beer, a decent Sauvignon Blanc and a menu of old favourites and new food ideas. Really good food! We had starter and main with popadoms and found... More
