we stopped there for lunch and will never go back again. The service is really poor and the staff didn't pay much attention to us at all. The sunday roast tasted like microwaved food and very bad value. Roast chicken was just a chicken wing and roast beef tasted like plastic. go somewhere else and don't wast your money.

An oasis in the middle of nowhere and a great place for lunch, either before or after trekking "the wall". The service was not good and the food very average but the local ale was great. Told there was no ice but the girl was too lazy to go get it, as it appeared some five minutes later. The Inn... More

I found the Hadrian Hotel a bit of a mixed bag. The food was pretty good and I enjoyed a pint of the real ale. The building also retains a lot of its charm with original features. The views from my bedroom were also excellent. The significant downside is the clear need for some investment. The decor is tired and... More

I went for a small lunch with my mum and partner before we did a hike along hadrian's wall. We had fish finger poppy seed rolls and my mum had tomato and basil soup. It seems a bit dark inside and everyone stares at you when you come in and are choosing your food which I personally don't like. The... More

The twice brewed is just fine if you are happy with a 'walkers hotel'. facilities and rooms are basic, but clean , which is fine. But parts of the pub and accommodation are quite shabby and several things are broken ( the shower for example fell completely off the wall ). The beer selection is a little limited - few... More

We stayed for one night while attempting the Hadrian's wall path. While the rooms were quite small and basic, there were sufficient showers, toilets and hot water. The dinner should get a special mention. I am suspicious of the term "home made" but the steak pie and the sticky toffee pudding were excellent and clearly home made. The staff were... More

Excellent location. Nothing exciting here just a rather tired pub and OK service. Pretty attractive though if you spy it through binoculars while walking the wall!!

Oh such as shame!... Me and 7 mates walking the Hadrians Wall in 3 days stopped here for our HALF WAY lunch. ..There is NOTHING ELSE around so this place is the only place and I have to say that it appeared to be resting on this fact alone. Perhaps with the continual captive clientèle, the staff get complacent, I... More

Stopped by for a late lunch after visiting Vindolanda. Food options were not remarkable, but had something for everyone - vegetarian etc. However, quality of food was excellent with good sized portions and all sourced locally, including ice cream. The range of beers on tap were also very good.

Called in for lunch en route to Vindolanda archaeological site. From a very limited menu ordered the Northumbrian sausages with mustard mash and peas. The sausages were a half ring and single link which were completely tasteless. It was impossible to fully eat the single link as I could not get a fork to penetrate one half of it let... More
