The Hike was worth it!!

Took a friend out there to meet her daughter who was training her dog in the nearby hills. It's a rescue dog and a great brute of a dog, but gorgeous!! We started our lunch here with a bottle of Real Italian Larger - Morena! Lovely after that drive! Amid that brilliant Northumberland setting we had... read more

What a view! Very busy with walkers on Hadrians wall. Excellent service and food room a bit small but comfortable Remote but scenic. Well worth the visit

Myself and 3 friends stayed at a local B&B whilst undertaking the Hadrians Wall walk and so ate dinner here. The beer is great but the food was very average indeed, particularly for the cost (and I am comparing this to the gastropub that I am the manager of), certainly compared to the other pubs we'd eaten at along the... a welcome range to confuse the walker off the wall. Food on tap too but appeared to be less personal service and more for the mass market.

The food was fine and the service friendly. Nothing amazing, but a nice stop after a walk along the wall.

Is there a better place to rest your weary bones than an English pub?! I had a lamb meal and a dessert that revived me. As mentioned, the prices may be a little high but we were on holidays from Canada and walking Hadrian's Wall from east to west...we just needed good food and got it!

Have been here many times, couple times for food and a few times for drink. It is a rustic pub situated very well for tourism but I wouldn't ever go out my way to go here. Drink choice is ok, can't fault that at all but the food is so over priced, drink isn't cheap either but they very much... More

Food excellent after a trek along the wall - if anything TOO popular, difficult to find a seat to sit and eat.

Fantastic beers, really great food and the ideal location to plan your assault on Steel Rigg in one of the more taxing sections of the Hadrian's Wall Way. A fantastic country pub that offers a warm welcome and excellent service. We didn't stay but would have gone back to eat there again for sure!

Came here with a group of two families after walking the wall together, just found it on Tripadvisor. The food was good for all of us - steak pie was excellent - and there is a good selection of beers, including a number of local real ales. The interior is a bit tired, but we didn't care and the friendly... More
