Nice English pub food

After walking and stumbling all over the place, up hills, on hadrians wall, this was a perfect finish of the day. It was very crowded and busy in the pub but they still had a good pie for me. My fav dessert was sold out, unfortunately, but the replacement was a nice surprise. I will visit it again... read more

I didn't think it was possible to fry chips badly but the ones we were served last week were the worst I have ever tasted. Dark brown in colour limp and soggy. Overall the meals were poor, overpriced and not very tasty. If we visit again we will stick to just beer and catch the bus to somewhere else to... More

This is a very welcome stop for any walker along this stretch of the Hadrian's Wall Way. In our case, owing to the way we had planned our walking, we finished up having lunch here on two consecutive days. The staff are excellent, very pleasant and chatty, and the food arrived fairly quickly. On hot days such as these, the... More

Stayed here last weekend, lovely comfortable rooms. Ours was en suite, plenty of space. Breakfast was only served between 8-9, which meant no lie in but there was plenty to eat and it was very nice. Wide range of beers including Shuggy Boat Blonde from Cullercoats Brewery on Tap. Was a bit disappointed with the evening meal on Saturday as... More

Beer, food and service reasonable but only average. The best aspect of the pub is that it is only 400m away from a hilltop which gives an excellent view of Hadrian's Wall. Popular with walkers as reflected in the décor.

The pub was very busy on our arrival and there was a little bit of a wait to get served but the food was good.

Nice pub and convenient for the local campsites and Hadrians Wall. My husband had the pie which he said was quite nice. I made the mistake of ordering the special Salmon which consisted of a piece of pan fried salmon on top of two halved new potatoes and two cherry tomatoes cut in half with a swirl of something green.... I chose Twice Brewed because it was at the end of a beautiful car journey from Newcastle, and because it claimed to be accessible to wheelchairs. It was. The staff were helpful and friendly, a chair with arms being made available for my Mum, with a parking place for the wheel chair unobtrusive and close by. The food was very... More

Great hand pulled beer, food all OK, and though always busy the staff helpful. Used the lounge on one occasion for a cup of tea though non resident and that worked very well too. Great place with real international assortment of visitors, and checked out the world map - visitors encouraged to put a pin in or leave a business... More

Nice pub. Convenient to Hadrians Wall. Lodging needs serious overhaul but I was told the new management intends to do that.
