Superb lunch

Very friendly greeting when we arrived for a family lunch, 6 adults & 4 children. The service was very good and the food excellent and very reasonable, starters, main, cheese, dessert & coffee with beer & wine approx €300. Would certainly recommend.

This hotel was an overnight stop when driving from Calais to the Dordogne. It is well worth the detour ! The hotel rooms were clean and comfortable, the village extremly quiet and the food - simply amazing ! The chef and owner has a colourful history (Duchess of Windsor, Aga Khan, Rothchild) and it clearly shows in both the presentation... More

We had a really delicious dinner with plenty of choice. Philippe Cauchois is a good chef and Evelyne Cauchois is so pleasant and helpful. The decor is tateful and the service excellent.

We dined here for four nights during our 2015 Le Mans trip. Phillipe, Evelyn, Staphanie, Valentin & Laura all did a great job of making us feel welcome once again. Nothing is too much trouble and despite trying everything on and off the menu, the bill always seems like exceptional value! Highly recommended

Stopped at the hotel overnight and expected to arrive late so booked into the restauarent based on reviews and pictures of the food on the website. The food was really good and offered a variety of menu /price choices. The local wine was really nice too - best the wife had ever tasted. The slight downside was service was a... More

Finally, we managed to visit Cheval Blanc, only a short drive from where we live. So, with some friends we booked for dinner last night. What a lovely unpretentious classic French restaurant. Service was attentive, professional and unobtrusive. The owner/chef (Philippe) and his wife (Evelyne) did the 'rounds' enquiring how we were enjoying our dinner. Which I am please to... More

Several set menu's to choose from but very flexible, no eyes batted when we wanted to mix things up a bit. They gave us whatever we wanted. All the food was excellent.

During our visit to Le-Mans for the 24 hr race, we visited the Chevalier Blanc for lunch, we were 8 people, and they accommodated us without booking, excellent service and very friendly people. Place was very busy, always a good sign. Food was excellent for the set lunch menu, and a good choice of wine. Good value, and a great... More

Wow! What I ate: Gazpacho with a scoop of tomato and basil sorbet Home made foie gras with fig compote and home made spiced bread A seafish medley: clams, plaice and coquilles Saint Jacques in a delicious sauce A duo of meats: fricassee of chicken and wild mushrooms alongside a small Chayeaubriand steak topped with an escalope of pan-fried foie... We had our last supper here at the end of a week's holiday in nearby Mayet. It is always such a pleasant surprise to be reminded of what auberge food should be like. The service was well paced (this is not fast food). The choice of food both meat and fish was good as was the range of set menus... More
