Best tempura?! Depends on your taste. It was quite different than the tempura I'm used to, but in a hood way. The staff was friendly and the portions generous. Definitely worth the short wait.

One of the most memorable meals on my last trip to Tokyo and I must have liked it because I've marked it to go back and visit again next week when I'm vacationing with friends. I would get there when it opens - maybe a bit of a wait if you need American style seating (table and chairs) but worht... More

We actually found this place through WikiTravel which boasted that this was one of the best tempura restaurants in Tokyo. That seems a bit... much. At best this is a reasonable, average eatery serving 'okay' tempura. Choice is fairly limited (don't expect lots of vegetables which ordinary tempura places have), it's mainly shrimps (large and small) they do. The eatery... More

Actually we lost our way while finding this, but we seek help from the Japanese folks and we got here in no time! We just told them 'Tempura' and they started pointing out the directions. Seems like Tempura Daikokuya is no stranger in Asakusa. Actually dining in Tokyo isn't cheap at all and this is no exception. If I'm not... More

Our personal tour guide brought us here for lunch before visiting the Sensoji Buddhist Temple, which is right next to the restaurant. For a huge restaurant (two storeys) that specializes in tempura, food was a little disappointing. Menu was extensive and service was really good. Unfortunately, the food did not deliver. My BF ordered a tenpura don, it arrived with... More

Had lunch here and I ordered the shrimp tendon, which is four large shrimp on rice for about $20 USD. My wife ordered the tempura set which came with a few pieces of tempura, miso soup, rice and an appetizer for about the same amount. I found the tempura shrimp to have a decent flavor, but soggy. I prefer my... More

We were lucky to arrive at Daikokuya just when it was opening at 11.00 hrs. It filled up quickly, but we got a table right away. This is the place in Tokyo to have superior quality tempura. The menu was small, with, of course, only tempura dishes. We ordered a mixed tempura set while some of us had tempura-don (rice... More

Went here after reading the previous reviews. We arrived at noon and was seated by 12:30. We ordered the tendon (four tempura shrimp with rice) and a separate tempura of three shrimp and one fish. The tendon is different from the traditional kind of tempura as there was sauce on top and in the rice - very tasty! The other... More

We went to this place because it was on the TripAdvisor app in the "Asakusa Walking Tour." The best thing about this was that we actually found it! If you've been to Japan and don't speak/read Japanese, you know how incredibly hard it can be to find an exact restaurant. The line is pretty long, so expect a wait. The... More
