Very small and intimate Italian restaurant in Tokyo with a Japanese chef who is very skills, knows his food and wine combinations really well. This is a a unique experience where the Chef cooks whatever he likes and you just take part in the theatre and enjoy it. Fixed price for food and drinks - excellent value given the quality... More

We had a wonderful meal at Amoroso in early March. There is no obvious signage for the restaurant so it was easy to walk straight by it. It is a small restaurant with counter seating only but that just adds to the intimacy of the experience. The chef was very warm and friendly with us and the other guests. He... More

We were introduced to Amoroso through friends when a couple in their group had pulled out of the dinner planned. We took over their spots and boy are we glad we did, as Restaurante Amaroso is now among our favourite restaurants in the world, and a go to for special occasions and when we have visitors. Firstly, you need to... More

Tokyo is the best food city in the world, and this is my favorite restaurant here. Great atmosphere, great food, each course paired with wine, at a great value. On top that, it is a completely unique restaurant experience.

This used to be my favorite restaurant in Tokyo, we have been many times over the last few years. Last night we had the whole restaurant for my birthday which I was so looking forward to but Maeda-San was in a terrible mood. He had many little tantrums throughout the evening ruining my birthday for me. His bad mood reflected... More

This was amazing - fantastic tasting menu and neat to be in front of the kitchen/one man show. Great talent and passion from the chef - can't wait to come back! tip: bring cash as there's a credit card surcharge (even with it still exceptional value).

An unbelievable experience, totally a One-man show. Exceptional food, atmosphere and hospitality. Best value I have ever had in a restaurant, anywhere. Hands down. If you can get a seat take it. Best as couples or in a small group.

Friends who had lived in Tokyo recommended this restaurant when we decided to visit Japan, and even though it was a little out of the way for us, we are so very glad we followed their advice. Maeda-San single-handedly and seamlessly cooks, entertains, and explains the food and wine you will enjoy here. From the Spanish champagne we began with... More

You should travel to Japan just to eat in this restaurant. The Chef starts with the wines and pairs them with the food. I have been fortunate to have eaten in many fine restaurants in many locations, this is simply the best experience I have ever had. After the meal all the diners were speaking and we all agreed we... Staying in Yotsuya / Iidabashi

Neighborhood Profile
Yotsuya / Iidabashi
Yotsuya and Iidabashi are areas that developed around the outer moat of the Imperial palace. Nearby in Kagurazaka, there is an old red-light district with a photogenic feel evocative of the ambiance of old Tokyo. Narrow paths with stone paving remain to this day, and there are long-standing restaurants with geishas and quaint old cafes in townhouse buildings.
