Two-story restaurant -- street level and basement. Good choice for sushi if you are in the area. This is a part of a chain of restaurants - can find all over Tokyo and beyond. Pretty easy to order sushi even if staff doesn't speak English. Salad was interesting to eat with chopsticks when lettuce leaves were virtually left whole. While... More

We went here based on the other reviews on TA. Sushizanmai is a chain of sushi restaurants located all over Japan. We ordered a few of the sets and had some warm sake. Although it was reasonably priced, there are much better sushi restaurants easily found at similar price ranges. This would not be my first choice.

Our first visit was at tsukiji. We queue for half hours. Worthy the waiting and prices quite reasonable. Thumbs up.

This place is a must try for the maguro. Even the akami (red meat) melts in your mouth. Needless to say, the chutoro and otoro were nothing short of orgasmic. As for the other sushi, they are pleasant and above average, but I would recommend going straight for the maguro. Don't waste time. Staff speaks a bit of English. Really... More

No Japanese? No problem; the staff here will give you an equally warm welcome and the menu is easy to navigate with color pictures. This is a lively, friendly place with fresh fish. It's also open 24 hours, which is highly convenient. Very reasonable cost and a low-key dining experience.

Super friendly staff with fast service and quality fish. Sushi chefs make the sushi right in front of you. There isn't really any English on the menus, just pictures, but staff are really helpful. I had the a mixed sushi platter, which serves 1.5 people, for 1850 Yen and it came with miso soup and a steamed egg pot.

While in Tokyo for business I went to the Tsukiji fish market early one morning to check it out. I was told it was something to behold (and it was). We were hungry, hadn't had breakfast yet, and discovered this little gem of a sushi place. We noticed it was very busy and looked very clean so we went in.... More

We needed a place to eat in shinjuku at 11pm and we found this place, just down the road. Thankfully we didn't need to rush there, as they are 24 hours. The service is excellent, my Japanese is terrible but thankfully they spoke English and they would be happy to teach you some Japanese. Food was very good, not over... More

I found this place thanks to TripAdvisor. I wanted some late night eats near Shinjuku. I was expecting glitz and glam but it's on a quiet corner near the metro line A1 exit. I was politely invited in and seated at the bar as I was alone. The waitress was very friendly and luckily had lived in the USA for... More

I don't write tripadvisor reviews but I have too in this case. I ate at Sushizanmai twice over the last week and really enjoyed both times. The staff are friendly and warm and were forgiving of my inability to speak Japanese, they even gave me a japanese tea when I was coughing which seemed to sort it right out. I... More
