I live in Dubai, which is practically mini India and a place where you find the best Indian food. While on a short visit to Tokyo to see my friend, I of course had a craving for Indian food, and we decided to venture out to Ashoka in Shinjuku, which is located underneath the Hilton Hotel in Nishi-Shinjuku. I loved... More

I am in Tokyo for the past 4 days. And the food I had in Ashoka Restaurant (Hiltopia) Nishi-Shinjuku is one of the best I had. Courteous staff and excellent service.

This is a genuine Indian restaurant, run by Indians. The food was excellent: I had a chicken masala (quite spicy), but my family had milder dishes, such as butter chicken and chicken muglai. The curries were nicely spiced and were authentic. The peshwari nan was really delicious. The owner is very friendly, and was happy to prepare a sag aloo... More

A really lovely place with a charming owner who goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable. The food is very good and authentic. A great variety of curries to choose from. My favorites are the goan fish curry, the prawn masala and chicken muglai. It's great to watch the chef make the naan and roti at the... More

There are actually quite a few Indian restaurants in Tokyo and I've been to my fair share - because let's be honest, who doesn't get a craving for curry? Many in Tokyo are great, many aren't so great. Quite a lot of them are rather overpriced as well. But Ashoka is one of the best in town. It's a great... More

Ashoka is one of the most famous and prestigious Indian restaurants in Japan. I've been here many times for a delightful Indian lunch. Everything from the service, food, to interior is excellent. The Indian staff is extremely courteous and yet so friendly they make you feel at home in this high-end Indian restaurant. I especially like the King's menu which... More

One of the things that attracted me to Ashoka in the first place was its authenticity. Ashoka is run by an Indian, has Indian chefs, looks authentically Indian in its decor and most importantly, is frequented by Indians who want real Indian cuisine - always a good sign! I went with a friend and we ordered the 5 course set... More

Having been to many Indian restaurants in Tokyo, I have to say Ashoka is hands down THE BEST. The decor is deeply rooted in Indian culture making us feel like we were being transported out of Tokyo. Ashoka's staff were also incredibly genuine and hospitable. They were more than willing to help recommend and explain the items on the menu.... More
