Found this restaurant through tripadvisor and boy was I glad I did. The restaurant is in the basement of the shibuya city hotel so don't be put off going the steps from street level. The restaurant itself is great for groups as they offer a drinks special and group dining table but don't be fooled by this again as I... More

A must when you visit Shibuya. Service and food are truly a Tokyo experience!! The Mackerel and tofu are a must. I will go again.

I'm pretty sure I counted a few more than 35 steps on the way out but anyway! A really fun place to eat and great for larger groups as they have a big table that sits around 16 people. They do a great set menu and lots of other yakitori favourites.

We ate here for our last dinner in Tokyo. Very cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, good food... it is a bit difficult to find, we had mapped it beforehand and the name "35 steps" is nowhere to be seen. You will see steps going down several floors, and the Izakaya is at the bottom.

Food here was fantastic! The staff are great and the atmosphere is perfect. Would recommend the tuna tar tar, Aburi and their selection of fresh sushi. Had dinner with my partner, 5 dishes and 3 beers came to 8000¥. Not the cheapest but you pay for what you get, which is excellence.

At first I felt like this place would be too commercialized and is marketed for 'foreigners' and I wouldn't get the authentic Japanese vibe. While there were a lot of tourists at this place (thanks to tripadvisor ☺️) it was equally popular amongst the Japanese folks as well. Such a vibrant lovely ambiance with constant flow of customers. Walk down... More

This is exactly what we been looking for> authentic food, pleasant ambiance, friendly service, price->quality ratio. Little difficult to find but glad we didnt give up. Everything we had (mackerel, beef stew and shrimp) taste really nice. Even the free salad to start was so simple yet such nice taste. Would definately recommend, busy place though so might be smart to make reservations.

Its a vibrant and noisy ikazaya place with generally good finger food and an English menu. Prices are reasonable as well.

Staying in Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu

Neighborhood Profile
Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.
