Very energetic, open kitchen, great food

We ate well. Japanese menu with Korean influence, mix of Asian and Euro/American clientele. Open kitchen, Japanese-style seating with footwells, or sit at bar/kitchen. "Bamboo sake" is served using a robust section of bamboo as a carafe. Outstanding kimchee, the best we ever had, and edamame that... read more

We had a great experience here. Great service and the flaming mackerel was delicious. This is our second time here, and we brought my parents who said it was one of their favorite meals, and they had me looking for more izaksyas. We weren't able to reserve a table, but ended up sitting at the counter which I think was... More

What a great eating experience for our first meal in Japan! We were lucky enough to be taken here by some locals, it was a great introduction to the deliciousness of the Japanese eating experience. Yes it's noisy, it's smokey but it's a load of fun too. We enjoyed a lot of what has been said below but my 2... More

As many other Tripadvisor-reading Tokyo visitors we found our way to this Izakaya. And we were happy that we did so! The service was very loud but at the same time very friendly and helpful. We had a number of dishes and were very satisfied with all of them - although some did not look as we imagined when ordering... More

I've been coming to their Shibuya restaurant for a decade now and the food is always excellent, staff is extra super friendly, cozy atmosphere. THE place I bring all friends visiting Tokyo. Try the grilled saba fish, negitoro, and tofu cheese. A definite winner, keep going Shibube.

We went here to celebrate our son's engagement, just the four of us. Thank goodness we booked as it was very busy! The food was excellent, especially the blow-torched mackerel and the honeyed tofu. It would help to have someone who speaks japanese with you as there is no English menus available. The only downside is that the people are... More

We weren't sure we walked into the right place as we couldn't find the name of this izakaya (it says "izaka ya ism" at the front) but it looked so stylish and cozy that we had to give it a try. We were very impressed by the set up of the bar with an open kitchen in the middle and... More

We are here our last night in Tokyo, and this place is something really special to experience. From the moment we walked in we felt like we were with family. They called my name out loud when we entered, felt like an episode of Cheers (for those who remember this show)! They took our shoes and our jackets for us... More

I am going to this restaurant for 15 years. Due to the rave reviews, the number of foreign clients has increased significantly, and possibly due to that, the service for foreign (looking) guest has become worse than the service to Japanese (looking) people (this observation has been made by acquaintances independently). The food and atmosphere are still nice, but I... More

While visiting Japan, you have to visit an Izakaya (Japanese style pub). The nomihodai (all you can drink and multiple course menu) is the way to go and is excellent value for money. The food at this place is FANTASTIC and the staff are and atmosphere are typically japanese - which is awesome!
