Superfriendly owner Bernd knows all secret spots of Tokyo

After the crowded streets of Roppongi Tokyo we found this welcoming German bar where we could catch our breath and drink a good beer. An amazing number of famous people have been to this bar and left their foto and signature. The atmosphere was very friendly and in a party mood. We met the owner... read more

Awesome atmosphere. German paraphernalia surrounds you as you listen to German radio while enjoying your meal. This bar has a good selection of German beers on tap. We got the sausage sampler plate. It was delicious. I highly recommend it. The owner happened to be sitting at the bar and made it a point to ask us how our meal... More

A bit of a walk from the closest station, but this place has a cozy feel. Its owned by a German who has decorated the interior with pictures and trinkets from his life. The food is good and prices are reasonable. Sometimes they have a band come in and play live music during the Oktoberfest season.

We have come to Bernd's during every trip we took to Japan, and on our latest trip we came alone and also brought our hosts to show them German food for the first time. Bernd and his family run this restaurant in Roppongi. It is not cheap by any stretch of the imagination but it is great. I've had German... More

Visited here last Saturday on my visit from Tokyo. There is a mixed crowd of expats and Japanese. The German owner was not on site but the Japanese manageress and the bar man were great. Each German beer is served in its own special glass - I've posted some photos. I cannot comment on the food as I did not... More

Not too far from Roppongi crossing, across the street is a Lambourghini dealer, is Bernd's bar on the second floor. Bernd has been in Tokyo around 16 years and the place is an institution. Many German and American business people hang out there, but the place is down to earth and the owners humble with a great sense of humor.... More
