A Slice of American Heaven in Tokyo

After four nights in Tokyo my family was craving some American food and this place rocks! The pizza was awesome...I mean really, really good (and I'm a New Yorker who knows pizza). The place is small and the service is friendly. The atmosphere is hip and it's fun to read all of the signs and... read more

After a long trip around Japan and eating many local dishes, we were craving pizza. After a quick search for pizza places in Tokyo, we found Pizzakaya and it did not disappoint! We were the only customers when we came in and very hungry. After ordering they put James Bond Skyfall on (in English), and ourselves and the staff watched... More

Great funky pizza spot in Rappongi with basics and other imaginative selections. We had a pepperoni pizza, which the owner promised us had "the best pepperoni in the world". And damned if he might not have been correct! Spicy, tasty, American pepperoni on a perfectly cooked cheese bed. We also had an ahi tuna and avocado pizza, which was surprisingly... More

You're too kind! Thank you so much for the great review! Don't think I said best pepperoni in the world, but thanks for the confidence:) I do think we have one of the best pepperoni 'pizzas' in the world though:))) Thanks again! More

Visited on a whim on a Sunday. It was clearly the right decision because we happened to join on the night of their food photo-shoot which included an amazing buffet of pizzas and sides for only 2,000 yen. I had over 10 types of pizza and they were all amazing! Favorite was the Bacon Cheesburger pizza and the new cajun... More

Walking into Pizzakaya reminded me of being back home and going to the pizzerias I used to visit as a kid. Generous George's in Alexandria, VA (RIP) is a good comparison, I think. Thick, crusty pizza with generous amounts of toppings and smothered in cheese. Lots of specialty pizzas that are amazing and the option to build your own, if... More

Visited with my family after the recommendation of a friend. First off, the pizza was excellent. The kids had a large half and half and my wife and I had a medium specialty pizza. Recommendation: get a Large pizzas. The price of a medium was about 2/3rds of a large, but less than half the size. We tried the wings... More

Thank you so much for you kind review! Glad you enjoyed the Pizza, if not the wings. I remember you now. The wings you had were the Buffalo Wings. Just FYI, the sauce is most definitely not made with pizza sauce. It's specifically a buffalo wings sauce imported from none other than Buffalo New York. Looking forward to your next... More

Amazing dinner in Tokyo.. One of our favorites actually. We had the special- a large pizza, salad, appetizer and 2 beers for about $45-50, so very reasonable in my opinion for such a pricey city where meals were not cheap on average... Definitely worth it if you're looking for a less traditional meal and a relaxing atmosphere. There probably is... More

I got the combo pizza and it was good, but the sausage tasted a little weird. Atmosphere was great, but a little too loud with the music and it sounded like the same song over and over again. Draft beer was ice cold and refreshing, but only filled up 3/4 of the way...like at a really busy bar, but I... More

Thank you for the feedback and Happy New Year. Couple things if I may. Our sausage is made in house and fresh. No link type or commercial bought sausage and it is very popular, particularly our spicy version. The beer is a typical Japan beer brand pour, which is to say, a little heavy on the foam. That's the way... More

If you're missing real american style pizza in Tokyo, this is the place. Not cheap, but neither is anything in Tokyo. They also have some decent sides. The beer menu is also beyond your typical beer menu and offers several uncommon american microbrew imports. And the carrot cake is awesome.
