Since I am German I took the Eisbein and Sausages aling with good German Bitburger beer. Tasted like beeing at home and I really enjoyed it.

So far this is the best meal we have had in Shinagawa. They specialize in hamburger streaks. They do a great job of preparing the hamburger and it is easy to forget it is just that (hamburger). Excellent flavor, cooked correctly and reasonaby priced. You can not ask for more in Japan. Close to the train station, stop by, you... More

I arrive in Tokyo but had not researched restaurants adjacent to my hotel. I like good food and I don't care if it's upscale dining or a hole in the wall.....this place is neither. It is a great restaurant filled with locals and I guess some travelers like me that were given the 411 on a great dining experience. We... More

It is said that Tsubame Grill was one of the first (if not the first) to serve the Japanese hamburg, where there is plenty of gravy and served with piping hot vegetables and rice. Naturally, I had to try it myself and I wasn't disappointed. The hamburg came wrapped in fluffed tin foil when opened, was filled with gravy. The... More

After reading all the good reports about this place, and since our Tour Hotel was just up the hill from JR Shinagawa Station, I just had to try it for dinner on my first night in Japan. It did not disappoint. I ordered the signature Tsubame Hamburger Steak, and the often recommended Whole Tomato Salad. The tomato salad arrived first,... More

Ate here one evening with a business colleague whilst staying at the Prince Hotel Shinagawa just next door. The restaurant has a nice ambience and décor and the menu is not extensive but it has the fabulous Japanese 'Grill Tsubame's Hamburg Steak' which was a must have. It comes cooked in foil with a delicious rich gravy, served with a... More

We've been going to this restaurant for 15years and we always end up ordering the same dishes: whole-tomato salad, pickeled fish and hamburg with baked potatoe!

Staying in Shinagawa / Gotanda

Neighborhood Profile
Shinagawa / Gotanda
In Shinagawa, an office district shares space with luxury residential buildings and the scene is constantly changing with rapid development. Ikedayama park and Togoshi park are great places to see beautiful traditional Japanese gardens with ponds, as well as enjoy the changing seasons. Shinagawa was a post and a port town during the Edo era and the lavish old Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples at Shinagawa and Ebara are very popular. It's a great place to get in touch with the old Edo atmosphere on a pleasure boat cruising along the canal. The neighboring area around Gotanda station is a study in modern contrasts filled with unique restaurants and a lively nightlife.
