Delicious taste - rustic settings ...but with caviar

http://missneverfull.com/?p=902 The unagi rice was really die-for. Really large portion of unagi over rice, the sauce is so good. I am not a rice lover but i finished all the rice- abaorbed all the essence and flavour from unagi. Summer is the best season for unagi.

Our best friend in Japan took us to this place for a dinner. The location is just the west side of Tokyo Tower. From outside it looks like a regular traditional Japanese restaurant, but they actually received one Michelin star restaurant. The waiter took us to the second floor into a corner room, and provided us with an English menu.... More

Nodaiwa was not bad at all, but it wasn't great either. I have only been to a couple of one star Michelin restaurants in my life (no two or three star restaurants), and I didn't quite think this one measured up. The food was pretty reasonably priced. My wife and I each ordered the least expensive lunch set they offered... More

used to hate eel when I was young because it was a hassle to eat with numerous bones and little meat. Fortunately, I grew to love it, though it is considered a prized delicacy in Japan. Nodaiwa (pronounced noda-iwa) is a Michelin-star restaurant that has established its presence since 1850. Currently in the 5th generation, the flagship store in Higashi... More

Go for the Charcoal broiled fresh water eel which is caught fresh from the rivers. Go upstairs for the full banquet and accompany your meal with some Koshu Wine. Good service from the wait staff and ambient surrounds.

Eel is one of these foods you should try and be adventurous about. It is actually really nice taste and this particular restaurant is very traditional and apparently serves excellent quality of eel (non-farm). We were the only foreign people that afternoon, which is a good sign. One person asked us how we had found that place because not many... More

When you write eel, it sounds awful but its quite good and Nodaiwa is one of the best though now a chain of restaurants. The natural non-farm eel is excellent but pricey as most eel in Japan comes from Taiwan or China. But its expensive and the main restaurant near the Russian embassy is small like most eel pkaces.

If you are looking to try traditional Japanese Eel cuisine this is the place for you. One of the best there is with a sister branch in Paris.

Staying in Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi

Neighborhood Profile
Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi
Odaiba is an entertainment hotspot with a giant ferris wheel, concert halls, amusement arcades and lots of shopping. It also boasts Oedo-onsen-monogatari, a hotspring that recreates old Edo-era ambiance and is very popular with foreign visitors. Shiodome has ultra-modern office buildings where you can often find restaurants with a great high-rise view of Tokyo. The neighboring area of Shinbashi is a district of much older commercial buildings and it's a great place to join 'salary men' enjoying a drink and snacks at street stalls under the railway bridges after work.
