Good taste but pricey

After reading the reviews about this place, we decided to try it. I ordered their tempura over rice, had their mizuna/clam salad and miso butterfish. The food was good but pricey. If you're starving, this is not a good restaurant. Our waitress was a young girl who forgot to bring the... read more

Went there with a big group for business. The menu was set, with many different dishes. Food is good but not great, kind of touristic, also in the atmosphere.

Foods were decent but portions were smaller than we expected. We had Soba and grilled foods. The view of the Rainbow Bridge at night was nice especially if you got a seat close to the window. Given the view and price, it is a fair value.

I'm often in Tokyo and I know many restaurants. It never happened to me that prices in the menu did not include taxes! I found out it only at the moment of payment. Really upsetting! You should also consider that food is nothing special and prices are alredy high for the quality that they serve!

Great atmosphere though the best seats are around the kitchen. Food is good but not great and service is a little sloppy.

We had our last dinner in gonpachi. Aside from the great view, the yakitori and squid tempura were great. The waiters also understand and speak fluent english, which is a plus. Also, you can stay late night since they open until 3am.

We've eaten at quite a range of Japanese restaurants, so having seen some of the reviews here we were ready for it being a bit sub-standard and touristy. We chose it as it was near our hotel on our last night in Japan and had to rise early for our flight. Yes, it was difficult to find but with the... More

Me and 7 buddies walked 10 minutes from the place we were staying at over to Gonpachi. The setting and atmosphere is good but the service was terrible. The waiter was definitely trying his best and spoke perfect English but other tables didn't get cleaned, constant requests for receipt corrections and long wait for food! That wasn't even us... Who knew that a 5 minute walk from our hotel (Grand Pacific Le Daiba) that we would find a shopping mall with multiple restaurants, one of which was Gonpachi. The place is dark wood, casual, but with great water and city views. The menu extensive of yakitoris, some interesting salads, a few meat & fish and ranges from inexpensive to... More

Staying in Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi

Neighborhood Profile
Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi
Odaiba is an entertainment hotspot with a giant ferris wheel, concert halls, amusement arcades and lots of shopping. It also boasts Oedo-onsen-monogatari, a hotspring that recreates old Edo-era ambiance and is very popular with foreign visitors. Shiodome has ultra-modern office buildings where you can often find restaurants with a great high-rise view of Tokyo. The neighboring area of Shinbashi is a district of much older commercial buildings and it's a great place to join 'salary men' enjoying a drink and snacks at street stalls under the railway bridges after work.
