Great place for lunch!

Great place for lunch. Amazing Tonkatsu at a very affordable price. Great service. I had not previously tried Tonkatsu and this place made me a fan!

I ordered a sirloin and a fillet for my family. Sirloin was fattier and I honestly enjoyed it more. Nevertheless both were excellent and I can never call any other tonkatsu good after this. I would give it six stars if I could!!

Be sure to find this specific Butagumi restaurant ... there might be other branches, other similar named restaurants, but this little shop, at the corner of a couple smallish lanes in Nishi Azabu is the true experience! A good friend of mine who lives in the burbs of Tokyo met up for dinner and he was amazed at the variety... More

Agreed fully with most of the reviewers. Out of the world Tonkatsu. The variety of pork from various regions in Japan are available. They are classified from lean to fatty. On the 6th day of my stay we had lunch here. Service was excellent. We had 4 different types of pork. Imo-buta; himuro-buta; Kirisima-kurobuta & Kin-ton-ou. We enjoyed the himuro-buta... More

ah the tonkatsu! For all things pork and in Tokyo try Butagumi. You'll find it like a vision nestled in a nondescript residential neighborhood. Let the server guide you through the menu and don't over order. Pick one item at a time, as the pork will fill you up rather quickly. We went for an early dinner one weekday and... More

Nestled in the neighborhood of Roponggi, Butagumi is a quaint restaurant that offers the best tonkatsu. They have wide range of choices from simple tonkatsu to rare ones. The servings were big, and includes unlimited rice, soup and salad. The waiter recommended to dip the tonkatsu to salt instead of usual sauce, and it was perfect. I just hope they... More

You pick your tonkatsu from a menu of different types of pigs. It's organized by sirloin vs tenderloin and broken down by how lean vs rich the cut is. Get the sirloin from the "very rich" section of the menu (which changes daily depending on what pork they have available). It'll melt in your mouth. Seriously one of the best... More

If you want to experience a traditional Japanese meal in a simple and typical atmosphere try Butagumi. We discovered it thanks to the concierge of our hotel and it was a great recommendation. There are so many types of pork meat to choose from that you might feel lost, but any type you choose I'm sure it will be excellent.

This restaurant is located a far way from the nearest station (Nogizaka) so be prepared for a 15 minute walk from the station. It is located on a side street parallel to the main road leading to the nearby park/cemetery. Once you've found the place you will be amazed. You can pick and choose a particular type of pork cut/type... More

Everyone recommended me the famous Maisen, but it is a chain restaurant. So I was looking for a more authentic restaurant, and I found Butagumi on the web. This restaurant is a real gem. It is not far from Roppongi and Shibuya station. About the meat: it is juicy, and you can choose between different porks. And you have free... More
