One of the best Tonkatsu in Tokyo

The place isn't easy to find. But it's worth the effort. The place serves up many different cuts of pork (at various prices) and depending on your preference, you really can't go wrong with any of the cuts. Our Ryuuka-Ton was lean with a mildly chewy texture and light on the pork flavour. The thin... read more

I honestly never even knew there could be different tastes/ stronger tastes to pork. I got the lighter tasting pork and it was just as delicious but completely different from the stronger tasting one. It was seriously the best pork and best tonkatsu I have ever ate. A must go for quality food that will fill you up!

Upon learning that my husband and I were going on a business trip to Japan, a friend of ours highly recommended Butagumi, a restaurant that specializes in pork tonkatsu. Tonkatsu is a breaded and fried pork or chicken cutlet dish. We love pork, tonkatsu and pork tonkatsu. So, we were only too pleased to give it a go. I should... More

Had to walk around for a while before Google Maps got me there. Really glad it did. Awesome pork - choose from tenderloin (less fatty, more healthy) or sirloin (tasty, juicy). Lots of choice on both. I went middle of the road on sirloin Nattoku-Ton, Deluxe, GIFU Prefecture). Probably ruined me forever. Not sure if I could ever do plain... More

After eating in Tokyo for five years, I can say with confidence that you can't go wrong with tonkatsu here. The best hands down.

Great place for lunch. Amazing Tonkatsu at a very affordable price. Great service. I had not previously tried Tonkatsu and this place made me a fan!

I ordered a sirloin and a fillet for my family. Sirloin was fattier and I honestly enjoyed it more. Nevertheless both were excellent and I can never call any other tonkatsu good after this. I would give it six stars if I could!!

Be sure to find this specific Butagumi restaurant ... there might be other branches, other similar named restaurants, but this little shop, at the corner of a couple smallish lanes in Nishi Azabu is the true experience! A good friend of mine who lives in the burbs of Tokyo met up for dinner and he was amazed at the variety... More

Agreed fully with most of the reviewers. Out of the world Tonkatsu. The variety of pork from various regions in Japan are available. They are classified from lean to fatty. On the 6th day of my stay we had lunch here. Service was excellent. We had 4 different types of pork. Imo-buta; himuro-buta; Kirisima-kurobuta & Kin-ton-ou. We enjoyed the himuro-buta... More

ah the tonkatsu! For all things pork and in Tokyo try Butagumi. You'll find it like a vision nestled in a nondescript residential neighborhood. Let the server guide you through the menu and don't over order. Pick one item at a time, as the pork will fill you up rather quickly. We went for an early dinner one weekday and... More
