I was very sorry when Honmura An closed in New York five years ago or so, and delighted when I realized that the proprietor had moved back to Tokyo to take over his father's restaurant. I had dinner there twice in the fall (forgot to review at the time), and both meals were exquisite. I had the set menu, and... More

We were recommended to this place by a friend, as our favorite soba joint Kanda got burnt down recently. Great soba but I felt the soba texture at Kanda is much better than Honmura. Overall enjoyed our meal and service was good with English menu and english speaking staff. Besides soba the restaurant offered many other choices for non soba... More

I visited honmura an twice while in Tokyo for a weeks break and both times were terrific. Walking to it the first evening, past an Irish bar and 'seventh heaven', I wasn't too optimistic, but how wrong I was. From the minute we arrived, service was wonderful, with the owner quickly realising that I was relatively new to Japanese food... More

One of the best soba places in Tokyo and a branch of the nishi ogikubo main store. Used to have a soba restaurant in New York. Soba at this level of excellent is expensive but this one has a good variety of small dishes as well. The interior is small and modern so if you want to go to an... More

Small stylish restaurant. Great menu and drinks. Marvellous host who speaks perfect English and took good care of us on the two occasions we ate there. Could not have been more welcoming. Highly recommended. Would definitely eat there again if we have the chance!

This restaurant once in Soho New York. it was the legend HONMURAAN restaurant which we miss soooooo much! Bravo to the restaurateur who brings the esprit to revive in the middle of Tokyo. The Zen style elegance yet relaxed atmosphere we won't miss anymoe. Food is actually even better with fresh ingredients of authentic Japanese produce. Grace à Honmura An!... More

We came across this place by fortuitous accident with no reservations but still were graciously seated. A gorgeous room, with calming aesthetics. We were the only foreigners for the first two hours, and the room was full. There is an English menu which the host was delighted to share and explain. It was our daughter's first dinner in Tokyo, the... More
