amazing soba

We came here on a recommendation of a friend and were not disappointed. The staff were very helpful and the meal was delicious. Make sure to make a reservation because this place books up!

When Honmura-an closed in New York several years ago, it was a significant loss for connoisseurs of Japanese food. The Roppongi version replicates both atmosphere and food offerings of the Soho branch. The folks at Honmura-an make their own excellent soba noodles, and these, both hot and cold, are the backbone of the menu. Small, traditional side dishes (like chicken... More

Managed by Koichi Kobari( foto enclosed), the 11th generation owner of the Honmura An noodle shop. Koichi owned and operated the famous Honmura An in New York. All noodles hand made!Great service!Wonderful tapas before you slurp the best noodles!Reserve the table by the window which allows you to watch the master noodle maker!

Ok soba. Nothing special and I'm not sure why this place has a Michelin star. Also, there is a super high concentration of western tourists here, which diminishes the authenticity (I sat next to an insufferable pair of engineers from Facebook who thoroughly reinforced my opinion that social media is undermining world culture and that Honmura An could just as... The Soba were very good, you won't regret your lunch or dinner for sure. But you need to expect to pay more than your average noodle Japanese restaurant. The alcohol (sake, wine and beer) are also more expensive than the average. We paid for lunch more than 40$ for two dish of Soba and one beer. But, it’s good, for... More

We were told that this is the place to go for handmade cold soba. Ordered the uni soba (obviously) as well as a plain cold soba. The noodles were softer than I am used to, but still delicious.

We used to have this restaurant in New York City and I loved it. I visited Honmura An in Tokyo while I was on business trip. Food is just wonderful. Very fresh and tasty. Loved the all the plates they use to serve food. Especially their collection of small plates, mamezara. Soba is home made. After drinking and eating their... More

A good friend who travels often to Japan suggested we eat at Honmura An one day - and we did. We were glad we did! The place is a small restaurant on the second floor with large windows looking down onto the tiny street. The staff was gracious and friendly. Our waiter spoke excellent English. It was pouring rain, so... More

I was staying in a hotel near this restaurant and asked the front desk to call and make a booking. I went over right then and was greeted warmly by the staff, including the proprietor who spoke English (as did my waiter). I ordered the set seasonal menu (6,900 yen) and Kenbishi sake served overflowing in a cedar box. The... More

We enjoyed a lovely dinner at Honmura An! Wonderful noodle dishes, salad, eggplant. Servers are genuinely helpful with menu, etc. and extremely welcoming.
