Best Yakitori in Tokyo

Busy place, tight squeeze somewhat. People queuing outside for a valid reason too. Food was out of this world. Reasonably priced. Service was good, atmosphere good, but the yakitori was the best I've had. Ever. No more words are needed for this place, just go there instead. I will. Again.

Wakamatsu has been in business in the late 90s. It just shows that it has preserve its food quality. Definitely if you are looking for good quality Japanese Yakitori in Nakameguro. This is a place to go BUT you will have to wait in line. So come early around 6pm or after 8:45 pm so that you don't have to... More

I've never found skewers so delicious. The place is very down to earth, no frills or pretension. The atmosphere is very friendly with mixtures of patrons, foreign and local, swanky and frumpy, rich and modest. This is the joint all food lovers head to.

The Yakitori was very good. Count 270 yen / piece. The service is good but not so warm. Expect a little surprise on your bill at the end. I explain: When I arrived the waiter gave me a bowl of green beans, I asked him "What is this?" he answered me "Just for appetizer", I replied "Ah ok thank you... More

Was introduced to Kushiwakamaru when living as an ex-pat in Japan back in the 90's, it was a favorite hangout back then and all the great memories flooded back during a first-time-since return visit with family this past April. A bit off the beaten trail (good directions in other reviews) but a great eat-like-the-locals / friendly to non-Japanese (english menu... More

Visited this restaurant with friends who live here & told me I had to visit. Had to wait 20 minutes but definitely worth the wait. We were lucky enough to sit at the counter and were able to see the chefs in action. The food was absolutely sensational! Great atmosphere too - locals were more than happy to try to... More

Went there last night, the tripadvisor map is accurate but the name on the door is only in japanese... Except that you can read the word Yakitori. Upstairs is another restaurant called mau coba, and on the left is a huge thing called hinomaru. It's a 2 min walk from the naka meguro metro station. Now for the place itself,... More

I don' know if it is really the best one, but surely it has been the beat for me for the last 16 years. Great atmosphere, fantastic tebasaki and tsukune, .. and great memories.

We chose this restaurant for several reasons. It was rated well by the Guardian recently, and we really fancied some Yakitori. We were not disappointed, and had a fantastic evening, particularly since we were seated with a delightful couple who generously treated us to a variety of dishes, as well as liberal sake. As hoped, there were some tempting but... More

I have been to Kushiwakamaru many times and it has always been fantastic. It is the best yakitori that I've found in Japan or, for that matter, anywhere else. My friends and I always used to call it "Stickman", so I will refer to it as such throughout this review. By far the best chicken meatballs (tsukune) I have ever... More

Staying in Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu

Neighborhood Profile
Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.
