VERY GOOD MODERN FRENCH CUISINE IN TOKYO

We typically try and visit a Michelin reviewed restaurant in any city we visit (if there is one), so it is hard not to compare similar *'d or Gourmand rated restaurants. It was a Sunday night, and as much as we tried to eat Japanese for our stay in Tokyo, the fish markets are closed on Sunday; and the concierges in our hotel (Imperial Hotel) recommended to not dine on Japanese fare, as it wouldn't be as fresh as is preferred. We elected Joel Robuchon, as we have dined at his... More

The first Michelin restaurant (La Table) I have been in Tokyo so far although tried lots of local food and good too. Cozy environment with good service. No doubt, food is very delicious. I must get a seat next time at Joel Robuchon.

I'm a big fan of Joel Robuchon since he was at the Raymond Pointcaré avenue in the mid 1990's, but I don't believe that he deserves the 3 stars in this restaurant when compared to other restaurants of this category in the world. Of course, the palace is beautiful as well as the decor, but the food was not memorable... More

What a relief to find a real French Restaurant in Tokyo. The other two "top" establishments we tried were quite disappointing. Chateau's operation is seamless. From the time one enters the front door to one's departure, staff members do their best to ensure a top experience. Our table was excellent and let's face it, black table clothes against a backdrop... More

Make sure you have a reservation to be able to dine here. On a weekday lunch, the dining room was packed. The dining room is opulent, with swarovski crystals all over the walls and table decor. I had the four course set menu which is simply divine...I fell its even better than their branch in Hongkong and really deserve the... More

Great food, service and ambience, whats more to say. From the reservation process, i would like to give special thanks to Sakura who was very patient and helpful in answering any queries i had. We each got the 10,200JPY Lunch course. Each dish was well prepared, down to the attention to detail with the presentation of the dish. Specially loved... More

Very glad we went here! Our visit to Joel Robuchon was wonderful. The food was spectacular and the service was second to none. The wine list was very impressive as was each course of food served up to us! We chose lunch as it was more affordable than dinner. A great way to end a great trip in Japan.

Superb location in a mock French chateau. Level of service generally very good, we had the 23000 yen tasting menu which was superb, the meat and the bream amongst the best I have ever tasted. Word of warning, do not get watching wines with the tasting menu at this restaurant as you might elsewhere as this appears to be a... More

Staying in Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu

Neighborhood Profile
Shibuya / Harajuku / Ebisu
There are countless opportunities to shop in the Shibuya and Harajuku districts, especially in shops that focus on Japan's "Kawaii" culture. The trendiest areas are around Shibuya’s Center district, Harajuku's Takeshita-dori and in Omotesando. If you need to recharge from all the shopping, you can easily refresh yourself in Meiji Jingu or Sasaki Park. In contrast, Ebisu has a more grown up ambiance of calm and cool. At the Museum of Yebisu Beer you can learn about the beer that was responsible for the town’s name, and enjoy dining at the popular noodle shops in the surrounding area.
