Simple have never had a ruder dining experience. Unwelcoming. Fish tasted old - like plastic or rubber bands and was discolored! Inedible! Really? We were shocked! As the reviews were so good! Sad to waste a meal in Tokyo! This is a must PASS!!

I prefer this over Sukiyabashi Jiro. Mizutani-san is light on the wasabi and vinegar. His sushi are ok. Jiro-san's seafood i think is more fresh but Mizutani-san's rice is better along with the Tamago too. :) overall pacing is ok. He tries to talk to us (asking our seatmates to translate as we don't know any nihongo). more relaxing pace... More

The food and craft of Chef Mizutani was great as expected of a 3 star restaurant. Atmosphere was a bit uptight as expected due to the small number of guests (max 10). Nice selection of sushi and sashimi but I think other seasons would yield more unique seafood varities. Damage came to 62,000 yen for two people (with no alcohol).... More

The sushi was very good, but not THAT good. Rating based on a price/quality ratio, it was very good but not excellent. The abalone and the otoro were excellent. The atmosphere was a bit intimidating at first, very solemn, but once everyone started eating, it relaxed a bit. I don't personally have an issue with the sushi master just focusing... More

Three Michelin stars, featured in documentaries, towering in the SanPellegrino top 30 restaurants; I thus wanted to try Mizutani-san's legendary culinary enclave in Ginza. I had my hotel book a lunch on a Monday "whenever". Whenever turned out to be 11:30am and upon reaching, I was the only customer. I had read that Mizutani-san does not speak much English and... More

Tokyo is a food heaven and this one is probably the best sushi restaurant in the city and the world. It is quite difficult to reserve at this 7 seat restaurant as you have to do it in the first or second day of the month before. However, it is totally worth the price and wait. I also tried Jiro... We had a very good dinner at this sushi restaurant but still it was not the best one and some details were lagging, all the sushis were not always identical, some sauce was spilling over or other little details. Despite of that it was in my Top Five worldwide for Sushis.

We are lucky enough (VERY lucky) to have tried both Mizutani and Jiro within the last 24hrs (how decadent!). Here's how they stack up. First the facts. Mizutani: 7pm on 10/30/13, 2 people, 10 small pieces of sashimi and 15 pieces of sushi each (approx. - sorry forgot to count and we were not given a menu/list), 3 small bottles... More

This was quite the experience. Let me first say make sure you call your hotel way in advance to book this reservation as they have a wait list. If you are able to secure a reservation, also make sure you love all sorts of sushi. The sushi chef prepares the sushi right in front of you and you eat what... More

"Wow!" was the word that I was thinking the whole time I sat there throughout a smooth and well executed dance whereby the sushi master himself and his sous chef would prepare each individual sushi for the customers. Even the most "ordinary" sushi pieces like squid and maguro tuna was outstanding in terms of texture and flavours. The sushi rice... More
