Perfection until the bill

After a long awaited visit to this highly recommended restaurant, my parents and overseas visiting brother met for celebratory lunch. A perfect hideaway retreat for a Sunday lunch. Lovely location , fabulous ambience and very homely feel. We all loved how we were seated in the lounge area... read more

Came for lunch here recently. I like the ambience, nice and relaxed. Service was good. Food was outstanding quality throughout. Certainly one of the better Michelin-starred restaurants I've been to overall, really can't fault it. The set menu looked a bit uninspiring so we avoided the lunch deal, but in retrospect I suspect that would be fantastic value if you... More

This is a very busy, smart, upmarket pub / restaurant. Because it is quite high up on a hill, it must have stunning views during the daytime (and it looks like it has elegant outdoor seating), but we were there in the evening. Bookings are essential, and I could see why. The food was delicious, and innovative. I had the... More

I have been eating at the Sr Charles Napier for the last 30 years. I have never been disappointed. The food is always marvellous. As is the atmosphere, the restaurant itself and the tremendous paintings and sculptures that are dotted all over the place. It is a unique and wonderful experience. Thanks to its brilliant owner - Julie. In winter... More

Went for a late afternoon lunch, had a fantastic meal. Service was great, and the cheese soufflé starter was amazing. Main course of the cod is definitely recommended . Setting was lovely, nice fireplace and sofa to relax afterward.

I have heard good things about this restaurant and finally got around to visiting last Thursday evening. It more than lived up to its reputation for quality and at £19.95 for the two course menu, excellent value. This could become our local favourite!

Thing is, the Napier probably never really wanted that Michelin star, never really wanted to be a 'fine dining' anything. It's an absolutely fantastic pub, with a great wine list and delicious food. And all those things are completely irrelevant. Why? Because it's perfect at three things. Winter: logs fires, one ale perfectly kept and served, random sofas and chairs,... More

Visited restaurant with Family members in November 2014 , The Service and the atmosphere were very good. The food was as you would hope and expect from a Michelin star restaurant was also good but not in my opinion excellent.. However my partner who has mobility problems found that the seating was uncomfortable. and the lack of disabled parking a... More
