Great experience

Had the chef's menu. It was very good except for a couple of the courses. The wagyu beef was a let down for me. The waiters could have told more about the food instead of just saying what it was. Nice that the head chef came and greeted us.

Having been fortunate enough to eat in a number of similarly rated restaurants I was stunned and delighted by the relative value for money of Monastrell. Whilst staying for a night hotel Hospres Amerigo (next door) we booked for an 8.30pm table. On arrival we realised that 8.30pm is early for Spanish diners but made little difference to the quality... We've travelled the world and eaten in many places. For a Michelin star rated place, monastrell seems to be a complete miss on the food. We had a €70 per person tasting menu and it was off on most counts; their 'star' Iberico pork glazed with honey and cardamom tasted like cough mixture; their dessert was horrible. Only saving grace... More

Yes, it is an expensive restaurant but the service was excellent, the ambiance was nice, the food was delicious and the local vine was so good. I definitly recommend this place.

The range of dishes are, not too surprisingly, narrow and read easily enough- and in some ways expected and quite typical (at least in English version menu) but we avoided the Tasting Menu (at 75 euros p p plus wine) on the level of food it listed (maybe next time?) and so my wife and I went for a lamb... We tried the tasting menu with the wine menu. All dishes packed with flavour and taste and the wine doing a fine company. Everything well presented. The two waiters were very observant bringing bread and water when ever needed. Well worth the Michelin-guide Star.

My boyfriend and I ate here on Valentine's day this year, and decided that for a special occasion we were prepared to pay the slightly high prices at this restaurant. We had the trio of steaks, the meat was absolutely wonderful and very well cooked BUT, we felt it was let down by the strange biscuit crumb that it was... More

we have visited this place a few times, once eaten in the restaurant and at the bar. The taster menu at 60€ was well worth it. The food was different and well presented! The red prawns from Denia are amazing.

The whole place is well decorated and nice. There is very little atmosphere and the staff are a bit to on your shoulder. Presentation is superb, the bread and oils are wonderful, BUT the roast suckling pig was to say the best, just a piece of pork without the wonderful mouthwatering crispy skin. Oh my god that is the best... More

We ate at the tapas restaurant twice, finding the food imaginative and tasty. There was a significant difference between midweek and Sunday however, with service pretty slow at the weekend. It is pricey, which is fine if the service and food is excellent, but with the competition in Alicante it needs to be more reliable in its offer; several groups... More
