High class in Alicante

We booked this restaurant since it is the only star restaurant in Alicante. We had the full menu with wine pairing. Ask for a table outside when you make your reservation. Nice food, good wine, good ambience.

This is the only one star Michelin restaurant in Alicante and can easily hold its place with any of the better restaurants in Europe. The room is quiet and slightly formal but the service combines the requisite Michelin stiff approach with genuine charm and friendliness. This personal approach is due the chef-patronne, Maria Jose San Roman who personally takes the... More

Great atmosphere in the outside tapas bar. Seating in a calm area away from the busier street. Ordered the menu, fantastic gazpacho, excellent ham with carrots and orange plus some other tapas. Over all fun experience with menu ordering. However if being familiar with the dishes probably better to pick items you like. Very nice!

One of the best restaurants my husband and I have had the pleasure to visit. The chef Maria took our order and as we wanted to sample so many of the dishes on the menu happily offered to create our own personalised tasting menu! The food was truly delicious, wonderfully presented and true to its roots using the freshest local... More

This restaurant is in an elegant environment in an ancient convent building which now houses a hotel. The food was carefully prepared and stylish, with quite a few hits and some misses. The service was very good. The chef uses lots of local fish, meat and produce with a special emphasis on various types of olive oil. The olive oil... More

I have just visited the Monastrell , and felt very harassed . i am here on business and dined alone but even if I was company , I would have found the staff over bearing. I had not had my menu 2 minutes before a waiter appeared abruptly asking for my order . Another 10 minutes and my so called... More

We never got our dinner. Thanks to the 4 waiters who had too much fun at the counter and forgpt us for 30 minutes. Hungry.

Michelin star ia well deserved, there is nothing negative I can say about thus restaurant except could have missed the oyster course (personal choice). The food was some of the best every eaten, the courses were just the right amount and we were given... More

The location of Monastrell is great, very central (attached to Hospes Amerigo hotel.) The food was excellent as you would expect from a Michelin starred restaurant, and very reasonably priced for one. We ate early (7 pm) with our baby (who sat in his pram) and the staff couldn't have been lovelier. Wholeheartedly recommended.
