In a nice location with a small playground in a large grassy area (which first attracted us - happy kids = happy parents), we were surprised by how good the food and wine was. A great menu, delicious pastas and meats, and they were flexible about off-menu requests for our kids. It is clearly very popular, we arrived at 7.30pm... More

This was our finest meal over the last two weeks. The starters (including pasta and truffle egg flan) were absolutely delicious; the fillet of beef for the main course among the best I've ever tasted; and the Tiramisu dessert a must. It wasn't just the food (and delicious local wine) but the service that made Girasoli di Sant'Andrea a must-visit... More

Expecting endless sunshine the downpour came as an unwelcome surprise. Called here for lunch to be met by delightful, professional staff and a delicious meal. The spinach and potato soup was wonderful....the chicken actually tasted of chicken.....the warm bread melted in the mouth.....only wish had room for the dessert!! So very accommodating, my daughter just wanted a starter- not a... More

Having passed this restaurant several times in the past two weeks we finally decided to make a booking and give it a try! We were all so happy we did! The atmosphere was simple yet elegant, the welcome was warm and friendly and with the addition of a complementary glass of a very nice Prosecco we were all set for... More

Excellent food, a passion for provenance and quality, beautiful home grown olive oils and wines, and to top it all a great price!

We rented a house for three weeks just a few miles from here and tried it on the recommendation of our hosts. My Italian mother and father-in-law and husband were all wowed, as was I, with the fine food and hospitality of Simone and the waitresses. They had an English menu for me and were very accommodating in every way.... More

Ate here twice during a week long stay in nearby Mercatale. This restaurant doesn't look like much from the roadside and décor is very simple but the food is excellent and the service the best we had anywhere in Italy. The staff are so attentive and even though some of the waitstaff don't speak English, they go out of their... More

We've just had a wonderful meal at this fantastic place - great cooking, unexpected and generous surprises and knowledgeable and professional staff. From the beautiful breads and complimentary prosecco through the anti pasta, primo and secondo, nothing could be faulted. The known wait for a chocolate pudding was beautifully assuaged by a small plate of idyllic pastries, and the final... More

While holidaying in Italy for the very first time, our holiday accommodation in the Niccone Valley meant we passed ‘I Girasoli Di Sant’Andrea’ on our way to Umbertide. We chose this venue to celebrate my birthday. Selecting from a varied and interesting menu the cuisine was exemplary, with every mouthful a delight, swilled down with a bottle or two of... More

Driving along the valley last night we saw a band playing outside the restaurant so decided to go in. We have eaten there before many times ( it's always good) but we had already eaten, we just sat in the garden with a bottle of prosecco a few nibbles and listened to the band. What a lovely evening, Simone was... More
