We were on Mount Takao, and decided to take the shuttle from the station to this restaurant. We felt underdressed, but were put into a private room in a lovely garden setting with a stream coming through. We had the grilled chicken course - the did offer an English menu. The service was great. Worth a day trip from Tokyo.

From the moment we arrived until we entered the car to drive back to Tokyo, the service was absolutely impeccable. The entire staff provided a remarkable level of service. We were escorted to our private dining area through a scenic path right out of a storybook. The food was incredible. My friends chose the traditional beef dinner which was delectable... More

Being located in Hachioji, it takes at least an hour or more from the buz of central tokyo, however this place is worth the visit for special occasion, a relaxed lunch perhaps. The restaurant ground is composed of numbers of small traditional houses/huts in the mist of a highly curated garden and streams. The service is impeccable and the food is... More

A beautiful Japanese restaurant where everyone gets their own little traditional hut to have an amazing dinner. I usually hate taking the kids menu because it's always the same thing but here I don't hesitate. It's probably the best kids menu ever!

This old traditional place is best for special occasion. We went with 11 family members to celebrate New Year in an individual villa. Each room is made in a traditional tea house. Our room was one of the largest for 12 people and it was located at the end of river in the garden and close to outside toilet. You... More

I don't think that too many visiting gaijins know about this superb place right in the outer suburbs of Tokyo. You need to book but there are no set meal times so you can go anytime after 11 am when the restaurant opens. A free shuttle bus takes you from Takaosanguchi Station into a little valley away from all the... More

One of the greatest restaurant experiences in Japan. Go there in dawn and enjoy the magnificet sight of nature and when it gets dark, small boats with fireflyes will apear on the restaurants small ponds.

Built at the base of Mt. Takao just a one-hour train ride from Shinjuku station on the Chuo Line, Ukai Toriyama is one of the most magical restaurant experiences you will have anywhere. The owner collected old tea houses from all over Japan, took them apart piece by piece and then reconstructed them on a beautifully landscaped piece of land... More

Must have been there every time we have someone come into town - 4 or 5 times a year. It is a great place to impress someone with. Full of the atmosphere of Japan, fabulous photo opportunities, staff all dressed up nicely in kimono and everywhere you look is like a picture out of a calendar on Japan. Best times... More

This place is simply the nicest place I have ever eaten at. Small private rooms spread in a beautiful Japanese garden or larger dining room, you will not be disappointed. I have been 3 times with different people and it never missed, everyone loved the place. As it is a bit far from toko, I would suggest you to visit... More
