Down a genuine medieval stairway

The restaurant entrance descends a genuine medieval stairway (see picture) from the hot summer street. The restaurant is small (9 tables), cool and spacious with white table cloths and a fine view across the valley. Some elements of the restoration work is poor. Nice setting and ambiance, but food was not up to par for the price. Arrived at 8:30 when they opened, so they had place for us even without a reservation. Saw others turned away.

We booked a table after reading reviews and anticipated the best. The ambience gets top marks, the whole setting is fabulous but unfortunately we found the food wanting, portion sizes woeful for the price. Wine was good. Perhaps they try to hard as the flavors are not quite there. The garlic soup was just missing that something to make it... More

The restaurant was having a quiet day when we were there for lunch so the service may have been better than usual but it is impossible to find fault with it - friendly, prompt but without undue haste, and very attentive. The menu "dégustation" was exquisitely presented and of good quality. The wines were interesting and the mark-up on the... More

We ate here for dinner and came back the next day for lunch. Not many choices in Sos, but the food here was tasty, straightforward and very reasonably priced. Particularly enjoyed the veal cheeks. Service was friendly, space is handsome (with excellent art for sale on the walls).

Although I am from the most northeastern part of Spain, I have some of my family roots around the Navarra/Aragón area, and have been traveling there since I was a kid. I am familiar with the traditions, the accent, the folklore and of course the food. I was happy to discover this place. It managed to delve into key dishes... More

We stayed two nights in Sos del rey Catolico and ate here both nights. As others have noted the food was very good. We had the tasting menu the first night and then went back for our favourites the following night. Alfonso was fantastic, recommending wines, which were really good, and he made us feel very welcome.

The food was good but nothing special. The staff was very pleasant, and the seating and atmosphere were very nice. Make a reservation. We couldn't get in the first of our two nights.

There is no need to go on about the food, it's very good. The service is superb and the ambience is, well, medieval - with electricity. There are not a lot of choices in this town but this one should be on your 'should try' list. You need to navigate through a bit of a maze at the entry but... More
