I am a retired self-employed chef of over 50 years experience in Italian food and am very understanding that restaurants have to make profit but they have to earn it and if you charge more than other restaurants in the area you have to be BETTER than other restaurants not just the same I have been eating in this region... We took the 5 course special menu Degustazione. Ordered some sparkling water, red wine and prosecco. Together with a nice ambiance and good service we had a wonderful evening. The quality of the food was excellent. Price quality is very good. Recommended for families but also for a romantic evening. Their pizza's are also very good.

Just had Sunday lunch here, had the "Degustation Menu", all courses including dessert! What fun! It's porcini mushroom season, and each dish paired perfectly with this delicacy. The surroundings are charming, we ate on the patio with all the other local families enjoying the pleasant temperatures. Will definitely visit there again.

We had a lunch at Il Pozza and loved it! Three of us went for the Tourist Menu, which was a set price and very reasonable. My six year old had just a plate of pasta and husband chose from the main menu. This restaurant is quite busy at lunch, with many locals taking advantage of a special lunch menu... More

We had dinner here last week with two teenagers in tow. They had pizza and we had the Tuscany Experience and compared with the over priced "experience" in southern Tuscany , the food was very good and great value. The outdoor seating area is lovely and the staff very friendly and helpful

Our waiter was a miserable SOB who never smiled all night. He was so miserable it became a source of amusement to the party. The food was OK but not brilliant. I guess this is what comes of having so little competition nearby.

I live in this area and know all the restaurants well. This is definitely one of the best. People come from all over to eat there; including Lucca and the Versiglia beach areas. The ambiance is very relaxing. You can eat indoors or outdoors. I would recommend the outdoor eating area. It's a big, covered terrace immediately adjoining a large... More

True Tuscan slow food in this family-owned and run resturant. Nice terrace and a garden for the children to run around in. Good price value ration

Having enjoyed the food at Il Pozzo on previous visits to the area, we decided to have our wedding lunch there in May. We weren't disappointed! Everything was set up beautifully and the menu was perfect with lots of local specialities including a traditional Italian wedding cake (delicious!) and excellent local wines. The service was great and the price very... More

We were staying in Castelnuovo and took the 3 km trekking path over the hill to Pieve Fosciana. I am not a great walker but would have walked twice the distance for what was awaiting us. The tasting menu is great. Local produce, home made pasta and a bottle of Grifo after opening the taste buds with a crips white.... More
