Firstly the hand written and photocopied menu, should have been a warning. French isn't my first language but I get by ok. The menu was impossible to read, but we settled on fish called Dorada. We ordered a glass of wine and a bottle of Perrier water. The water was dumped on the table in its plastic bottle not even... More

On the first morning of our drive through Languedoc-Roussilon, we selected La Maison for our first lunch. Armed only with my high school French and knowing only that we wanted some mussels and oysters, we ventured in. The hostess asked in French whether we wanted to sit in the sun or the shade, and was kind enough to repeat it... More

I really like the owner and the food but over the last decade prices have risen. We still take visitors there for special meals but there are other places with comparable food and lower prices.

We stopped here because of a recommendation in Canal Cruising in the South of France. Unfortunately our experience did not match the authors. We found the quality of the seafood itself inferior. We know seafood and this was mediocre. The service was good, the setting lovely but the food itself, disapointing.

From the moment the olives were brought to our table with the menus, we felt relaxed and cared for on the terrace by the port. It's not a smart restaurant with pretensions, it's an excellent place to eat sea food close to its origins, with very friendly service. Having had excellent red mullet salad and carpaccio of tuna for our... More

Not the greatest food but a welcome refuge on a day of dreadful weather. Enjoyed the hot shellfish but not the oven chips.

Poor service, no ice bucket for us but then again maybe it was because we were English, all the French had one. We chose food from the the 18.50 euro menu and went for the fish, however this was sooooo poor that the RSPCA would arrest you if you gave it to a cat. Do yourself a favour and eat... More

Lovely location with views over the small fishing port. Freshly prepared sea food dishes - a real treat! Would definitely return again.

I'm with clapisson on this - we've eaten here several times and the food has always been excellent, definitely our favourite restaurant in Meze. Not a place to go to if you want formal service, starched linen napkins, and so on - the style is perhaps best reflected in the menus, which have been hand-written on pages taken from an... More

I ordered food off the 18.50 euro menu. The mussels to start with were delicious. The steak for the main course was quite fatty and gristly. The chips were nice though, but no side salad with the dish, just a tomato. For dessert I ordered the homemade creme caramel, which was served in slices and was a bit hard around... More
