Go for the Snails! Local Snails

To me this place stood out - there are a lot of restaurants in Cherasco that serve snails. However, I don't want to come to Italy to taste local snails served "A La Paris" as most places seem to have - drowned in butter and garlic! I want classic regional cooking and I think I found it... read more

Chef Pietro and his wife Christine made both our visits memorable. We ate through the menu from antipasti to dessert. The food and the wine recomondations were perfect. The chef asked us during our second visit if we would be interested in a Risotto cooked in Barolo wine. It turned out to be my best Risotto ever. They let us... More

Amiable Christina and her husband (the chef) are not only specialists in snails (lumaca). They offer a fine menu degustatione with 4 courses (different choices) for just 35 €. The dishes were very well seasoned, Christina brought us sea salt and a pepper mill for the best lamb chops (costelletto di agnello) that I ever had. We enjoyed the snails... More

Yes you can get snail appetizer and snails 3 ways for a main course but the menu is much deeper than that. My wife would never eat snails and when I told her about La Lumaca she was wary, but she found a range of Italian dishes to satisfy her tastes. This was my second visit and even better than... More

I really liked the ambience of an old style trattoria set down in a kind of "cellar". The service was good and very patient with us. We had a great time and really can't complain about the food. I didn't eat the snails but my pasta and antipasto was average. My husband's snails were good but nothing outstanding. Overall I... More

We had a quick dinner at this place. Great pasta and the chef introduced the ingredients after we had eaten. Additionally we got good recommendations of wineyards to visit.

We came to Cherasco especially to try their snails .. stumbled upon this restaurant, as it was Tuesday and a lot of the restaurants were closed. It's a lovely cosy place and the owners and staff were really friendly. We both sampled a glass of the local Barbaresco. The stand out dish was the Tajarin al sugo di lumache. Lovely... More

I've ate here a few times now while in the area on business. I generally stay in Cherasco for the main purpose to go to this restaurant again. Very friendly owners, Pietro the Chef/owner will visit your table to speak English to help with the menu selections and his wife always a very friendly host. Excellent older vintages of wine... Very nice restaurant in the city center of Cherasco. The staff was very friendly, even to explain the main courses to 2 French guys not able to speak Italian! We tried a good red wine from the area (barbera d'asti). The food (including the snail specialities) was really good, and for a quite cheap price (especially compared to Paris).
