Great food, but service is a bit hit and miss

There aren't too many options in town and this looked promising tucked away in a small square with seating equally distributed inside and out. Food was excellent and well worth the wait, but it was quite a wait. Wine choice is massive and you can just pick one of many bottles off the shelves... read more

A very small restaurant, lucky we were early! Very accommodating with my gluten intolerance. Very good with children. Great food, beautiful wine. Lovely service.

Visiting Casciana Terme and ate here two nights in a row. The cozy atmosphere, good and friendly service and delicious food have brought us back year after year. I recommend the calamari dish and the local soups. The pizzas are also delicious. There are two different menu books so ensure you look at both and ask for any seasonal specials.

We had not realised that when we decided to try the outside restaurant just across the street from where we had sat indoors the previous day eating really good pizza that Il Merlo was in fact one and the same. It was buzzing and on spotting a couple from our hotel at one of the tables we were gratified to... More

Four of us ate here twice during our week in Casciana Terme. We would have eaten a third evening, but returned from our day's travels very late that night and therefore missed out. The 2 gentlemen running Il Merlo are both friendly and amusing. The restaurant is small and homely and always full, with heads popping around the door hoping... More

For some reason the most cited restaurant was closed in Casciana. We chose Il Merlo as did most that evening. Il Merlo served good pizzeria-trattoria type food. Service was friendly and menu was translated in really many European languages.Il Merlo was good.

Little pizzarente which serves crisp tasty pizzas at a very affordable price. Good house wine in carafe.

We used to love il Merlo and have been there several times in the last years. But this summer our experience at il Merlo has been very disappointing. We have been there twice in a week and had terrible service (dishes arriving at different times for each of us and after a long time), average quality food and very small... More

Great food, had the baked ravioli stuffed with ricotta and spinach covered in a creamy tomato sauce, my partner had a grilled steak which was so tender it melted in your mouth, the pizza margherita was incredible. House wine was pretty good!! Service was excellent! They offer an English menu. Highly recommended!!!!!
