Great food, shame about the beer (in a place named Beer)

Cannot fault the food. Had a great Sunday lunch here on a very rainy Bank Holiday Weekend. All delivered hot and exactly as we ordered. However, the ale was not to my taste. No life, almost flat, maybe that is how they like their beer in Beer!

Had a gorgeous veggie sandwich with top coleslaw, kids enjoyed their meals too. They just need to de-automate their processes. It might be efficient to get your drinks in one place and your food at another but it gets very confusing when the kids drinks comes as a meal deal. For them as well as me. Also I can understand... Went here last minute and they were very busy. Staff are friendly and accommodating of our large group. Food was great with large portions. Would thoroughly recommend the fish pie.

We visited for lunch and the special was skate. They only had 4 portions left as the fish is the daily catch. It was very good and the pieces were fresh, well cooked an huge. It was supposed to come with mash which none of use wanted and they were happy to exchange the mash for saute potatoes in 2... More

Love this place. The food is excellent and the beer garden is a lovely place to sit in the afternoon or evening just to relax and chat with friends and a drink or two! The staff are so friendly and helpful. Nothing seems to be a problem. Nany happy hours spent here

We booked for the weekend, some 10 years since our last visit and too many to count since our first. It was also our first visit in summer, having previously gone in spring or autumn. The pub is now part of a chain, Old English, but it doesn't feel like one. We had room 5 on the top floor, quiet... More

We ate here on a busy lunchtime with two children and another couple. Waitresses were lovely, bringing colouring pencils and paper, and the food was delicious- particularly the scallops and bacon. Nice simple food and fruit cider on tap. We would definitely come again.

When I last visited this pub 2 years it really wasn't very good. What a difference 2 years makes! There is now a very nice garden on the opposite side of road. There was also a very good range of ales and spirits. The real difference was the quality of the female staff behind the bar. I watched and listened... More

Ok food, but still poor service. Such a shame as this place used to be top of our list to eat in Beer. We had lunch with friends, but they had finished their meal before ours arrived. I had to ask the waitress to see if we had been forgotten. The manager asked me to come back after last year... More
