I have been coming to beer for years and think it's one of the most scenic and quaint places I have ever visited. The local establishments have always been very good and two bankers were always the dolphin hotel and anchor inn for some good old hearty English food. Having come on holiday may 2015 I was surprised to see... More

Had a lovely meal in the Anchor Inn - the service and food was exemplary and at a fantastic price. Being a coastal pub, we expected the food to be very over priced and average - it was both cheap and of excellent quality. A special mention for the Portuguese lady ( I think she was the restaurant manager). She... More

Great views over the bay, very busy little gastropub which I believe has accommodation though this gets fully booked very quickly on account of the location. Whilst we didnt eat there we drank in there several times both in the pub and the beer garden. Staff very efficient and friendly. Food looked lovely with some specials of the day (usually... More

The first thing I have to say is that on a sunny day the garden is a great place to while away an afternoon. The garden itself is not terribly beautiful, but the views overlooking the sea in the little coastal town of Beer makes it a great spot. The staff was friendly, the food came pretty quickly but it... the Anchor was very busy when we went in at 8 pm but they still managed to find a place for us although it was in the pub and not the restaurant and therefore had to order our meal and drinks separately. The service was very good and very quick being served at time of night

Currently staying in Beer for a few days and we were thinking about eating here, however on the 3 occasions we have been for a drink the bar staff, one guy in particular, is so rude. Not only to us but on a few occasions my husband has witnessed how one bar staff individual treats everyone with the same rudeness... More

We ate twice at The Anchor in the evening, (we being, me, my husband, two friends and my sister). On both occasions (Fri and Sat), we arrived relatively early around 7 and as it was the weekend the place was packed each time. The restaurant was also fully booked, however, we were able to find a table in the bar... More
