Heck, you are steps away from the ocean - why eat anything else. Options abound but this place is sure thing if seafood is what you seek.

We had an excellent fish dinner here! The service was a little spotty. But the food was worth it. The view of the water is beautiful. We missed the sunset but could only imagine how amazing it would be from this restaurant.

As others have already noted this is a very good place to eat and it serves particularly good fish dishes with a variety of interesting sauces. The service is friendly and prompt, by local standards and if you are on the island for a few nights this is definitely a place that you should try at least once. A table... More

My favorite island restaurant because of the amazing sauces on the *very* fresh fish. Be sure to try the 5-pepper sauce...it get's 5 stars! Also, if you're craving veg, instead of rice or salad, get the stir-fried veg... Great! Only frustration is that it seemed to frequently be closed or to open fairly late in the evening for dinner. food is overpriced on the island and this is no exception but at least the food is tasty and well prepared.

Popped in to avoid a rain shower and had a really excellent meal. I had fish in a coconut and fruit sauce and my partner had a steak. Both dishes were really very good. The service was quick and friendly. It was reasonably priced for Easter Island. Couldn't ask for much more.

When we weren't eating empanadas, we were at Makona for the large variety of fresh fish and ways to have it prepared. Everything we ordered was excellent, prepared perfectly, and very tasty. Service was fast and precise and the food costs are very reasonable. You can get just about anything to drink as the waiter runs to the grocery store... More

Our hotel host said this was his favorite restaurant on the island, and we were not disappointed. The strength of the restaurant is the way the fish is prepared, with your choice of very flavorful sauces. The portion size was perfect for us, and the prices were very reasonable considering the quality and the location. The atmosphere is nice enough,... More

Stopped here for lunch after a receiving a flyer at the airport from a pleasant employee. The service was excellent and attentive without being intrusive. The dishes were colorful and well presented. The whitefish was soft and cooked perfectly. The place seems to attract mostly English-speaking tourists, but all are welcome of course. Very central location.

We ate at Makona twice on our recent visit to Easter Island. On the first visit we had five pepper fish and five pepper steak and it was fantastic, the best meal of the trip. Both were cooked to perfection and very tender. On the second visit we each tried something new and didn't like either of them. I can't... More
