Who would have thought you could get the most amazing Japanese food on Rapa Nui. Darling little restaurant, spectacular food, freshest ingredients, great prices, and superb hospitality. We almost missed this place, so glad we didn't!

After our first diner at Kotaro, we decided to cancel the diner reservation we had for our last night on the island and come back to Kotaro again! It's a very special experience, when you see how the chef prepares your dish and tells you everything about it! Both times we ordered according to chef's recommendation (beef in a garlic... More

When you are bored with empanadas, grilled fish with rice and ceviche, head to Kotaro. We ate here on 2 out of 4 nights. Stand out food and service. Quirky, eccentric little Japanese restaurant, straight out of small town Japan. Owned and run by a Chilean couple, he has spent ten years in Japan, and it shows, The food was... More

Do not miss this restaurant when you are in Easter Island. Chef Francisco is a one man team who built this restaurant after returning from 11 years in Japan. The restaurant and food is very authentic. I can honestly say the yellowtail sashimi/sushi is among the best I have ever had ( chef has trained a local fisherman how to... More

A small island in the South Pacific was not where I expected to eat one of my favourite meals and possibly the best Japanese food I have ever tasted. We did not make reservations, but we did go early in the evening so had no issue sitting down. Don't go if you are in a rush, everything is made from... More

If you come to easter island, a trip is not complete without a visit to this place. My wife is vegetarian and the owner made specific suggestions to make a miso reduction dish for her and she loved it. I got the shrimp curry and tuna sushi which were excellent. The sushi is the best I have had anywhere. The... More

Excellent food. We were shocked to find out the noddles were made al dente. It is an one-man shop as the owner warns in the entrance to his restaurant so reservations are highly recommended and be prepared to wait long.

The food was incredible. Not only the best on the island, but the best I can remember having in a long time. The chef/owner is fantastic and a trip to Easter Island is not complete without a meal (or two) here.

Fabulous, authentic Japanese. Be sure to stop by to make a reservation before 6pm. Look for the little black building in the Japanese style on the same road as the airport (before the airport, towards town). This is a one-man operation and he might not open if no one makes reservations for a given night. The owner is from Santiago... More
