We loved this place so much that we had to break our cardinal rule of never eating twice at the same restaurant while on vacation! The seafood is fresh caught that day! The soup and sushi were beyond amazing! The salmon, fish with ginger and fish with curry were cooked to perfection! The chef and and his sweet, lovely wife... More

Close to the airport, so if you have some time let before your flight leaves, go to Kotaro. The chef is kind and quite original. He proposes a kind of menu. Consisting of soup, rice (the best on the island) fish/shrimps/ meat. It takes some time to get served, but is is worth waiting. The cost is normal, according to... More

Kotaro has become my favorite restaurant in the world. I'm not stating this lightly as I've dined at world class restaurants many times before. It makes sense as the chef is world class, himself and his ability to create a divine meal leaves no mystery. The food is absolutely incredible! Each ingredient, whether it's vegetables, fish, pork, chicken or beef,... More

I've spent a few months in Japan, but genuinely this was better Japanese food than I had the entire time I was there! The chef was lovely- incredibly friendly and helpful. It does take a little while for the food to come but that's because the chef focuses on one table at a time, giving each the care and attention... More

My husband and I were recently discussing our top 5 favorite travel meals... all of them aren't gourmet but were good and had a unique touch. Kotaro definitely qualified. The food was excellent and prepared before our eyes after the chef asked us brief questions to help us pick our meals. There is only a few tables and a few... More

Francisco - Thanks for the fantastic meals! . We loved this place so much that we ended up going twice. The chef, Francisco has a fantastic personality and it really is a one in a million restaurant. I think it is because it is so unique! - Firstly the rules - hard case ;) we took our 10+12year olds and... More

This food is as good as any Japanese meal I've had in New York, la or San Fran. The vegetables are excellent, flavorful and fresh and sashimi and fish curry is delightful. Also, love the ambiance and chef recommendations. A must try for those who go to the island!

The food is delicious and carefully prepared. It is totally unexpected that one would go to a tiny island in the middle of the Pacific and have such a wonderful meal. The chef/owner/maître d actually comes to the table and helps you decide what you really should have from the menu. Since he is the one who is going to... More

Made with love - this is the best way to describe the place. The owners attention to detail, from the restaurant decor to the fantastic home made food, makes for a great dining experience which would stand out in a major city, let alone on one of the most remote islands on the planet. Prices are comparable to other restaurants... More

We had a really lovelymeal here on our 2nd night on Easter Island. Francisco the chef is quite a character. Originally from Santiago, he has lived, trained and worked as a chef in Japan, China, Italy and San Francisco. The food is tasty, well prepared, excellently served and not too expensive (the island is an expensive place after all). The... More
