Second time around

We visited the restaurant last year and it was mediocre at most, but we gave it another chance and we were really glad we did. We shared a Filet Steak as they are so big and it was amazing, the quality of the meat was great just served with chips. It cost 17 euros between the two of us which... read more

We have been regular visitors for the past 5 years & have noticed a gradual decline in El Gallego. Last night we had our worst experience yet & will be thinking long & hard about returning. Granted the steaks are large but the quality is nothing compared to the those you can get elsewhere. However the service was terrible. One... More

Went with friends - on their recommendation - to El Gallego a couple of Fridays ago. Glad we went early (7pm) because the restaurant soon filled up. Also on our friend's advice we shared the main course 1 between 2 - and this gave us just the right quantity for each of us all round. We had the solomio done... More

The food in this restaurant is simply unreal you will not get better any where. Service is the same. If it is lunch or dinner you will be more than happy.

Visited last night on a rrecommendation. Good first impressions. However, service was poor. Not very friendly waitresses, hard to get their attention and very little interaction during meal. We had T-bone and fillet. Asked for medium, should of read reviews first as came out uncooked/blue in parts and heavily oversalted. Reasonably priced overall although a pint was 3.50. All this... We visit El Gallgo at least once each time we are in Spain. They specialised in meat and fish from Galicia and without exception you will not find better quality anywhere. If you want steak, there. Only one place to go.

the only thing to knock about the steaks is the that if you cannot eat rare steak then this is NOT the place for you. the garlic prawn starter was good , the sirloin was very good value and a fair size. the service is very poor , dont expect to be in and out quickly which suits me as... More

Best steak in town. cheaper than a lot of places around and more of it. Their selection of meat and fish can be viewed and it is always well cooked. Service is good too. Always busy and can be noisy but that is not a problem. Try it.

It's best to have an appetite when taking a seat at El Gallego. If the "Starter" looks a lot, just wait until the main course arrives. Steaks will cover the generous dinner plates, with a vast selection of locally grown vegetables. So popular with the locals that's it's best to reserve a table a few days before visiting,.
