There’s a reason Colleys has spent 25 years as one of Lechlade’s must-visit restaurants, with chef patron Donald Cartwright’s service and cuisine continuing to impress locals and visitors. The dedicated team at Colleys understand that on different days, and for different reasons, guests require flexibility and choice. From Tuesday to Friday the modern Brasserie & Grille menu offers classics alongside timeless Colleys favourites. The restaurant’s passion for singling out great plates and making them their own is evident, with guests returning time after time for steak burgers made in-house with duck fat buns and local ground steak, or beautifully crusted pies that, once tasted, are a lifelong yardstick for all other pies. The Brasserie at Colleys provides casual dining with attentive, friendly, knowledgeable service. Brasserie open Tuesday – Saturday lunch 12 – 2 p.m. Tuesday – Friday evening 6.30 – 9.30 p.m.Colleys is known throughout the South West for four-course ‘table for the evening’ set price menus. This classic menu is served on Friday and Saturday evenings. Everything from the daily baked breads through to the famous Colleys puddings is crafted by Donald’s longstanding brigade. Bookings are recommended as there is a limit to how many tables are available ‘for the evening’. Classic Colleys 4 course dinner Friday & Saturday – tables at 7.30 p.m.Sunday lunch at Colleys (tables at 12.30pm) sees a return to real roasting with overnight slow-cooked shoulder of Gloucester Old Spot pork, Scottish beef sirloin, duck fat potatoes and serious Yorkshire puddings. Bread & butter pudding or syrup sponge with custard will always remind you of how a family lunch should be – built on flavour, understanding and relaxation.

Great food - lousy tipping policy

Warning - if, as I do, you believe that good service merits a decent tip, then bring some cash as 'management' don't allow for a service charge to be added to the bill when you are paying by card nor is service included in the bill. When I asked our waitress (charming and efficient) if service was... read more

Tried the new summer menu at Colley last week, and it was fantastic. Fresh produce creatively put together and cooked superbly - this is one of the best meals I can remember. I loved the gin and lemongrass ice-cream with lychees and raisins: very original and tasty. Staff was very helpful and attentive, which made our evening out a real... More

Enjoyed the June Classic Colleys menu on Saturday last. The restaurant was full but not overcrowded. The staff although all young were exemplary. They are well turned out, polite, knowledgeable and attentive. Our evening began with a choice of 60 gins and then dinner. There is a choice of starters, then a soup course followed by a parade of the... More

Always a pleasure to have a meal here. Service excellent, food fantastic and good atmosphere. Since we last visited the restaurant operates a Bistro in the front room. Didn't like this because the food is carried through the restaurant to the Bistro. This affected the ambience for me. However, don't miss this place; its great!

Monday night...you can sit at the bar and relax, listen to blues, have a half price beer or house wine or try one of the 50 or so gins on offer, also half price. What's not to like! The bar food is tasty...ribs, burgers and the delicious barbecued chicken, smoked in house. I can recommend the macaroni cheese. Colleys is... More

Ten of us visited on a Saturday night for a family birthday dinner. On our arrival we were shown to our table whilst we waited for the others to arrive. We weren't offered any drinks for 15 mins and then we had to ask for them. A glass of red wine was then accidentally spilt all over the back of... More

Visiting Colleys is something we seem to do about once every few years for no reason other than it is what we seem to do. We have been visiting the place for 25 years we worked out in the evening, and we keep introducing others to the restaurant. Hence at this point it is worth noting that we consider ourselves... Having spent the morning visiting nearby Kelmscott Manor (well worth a visit!) we popped into Lechlade for a bite. We were quite late for lunch but were drawn into Colleys by the elegant exterior and friendly staff. We were not disappointed. Very friendly service and an excellent lunch.

This was not just a meal but a real experience which my husband I loved. The one sitting in a night meant there was no rush. The food was wonderful, and I was so incredibly full after all the courses and my two desserts! The servers were lovely and chatty. A great experience.
