This place is always busy, lunch or dinner. The staff are friendly and efficient and the food is good. We normally go for the ham hock or steak and always happy. Both come with a very generous portion of delicious chips and there's a very decent range of beers on offer too. A great place to eat.

Sad to say things have been falling apart lately in the restaurant. The food is still very good value for money even though prices have gone up a bit after the summer and as good as it always was. But service can now be very variable. The older waiters slave away whilst there is a younger waiter that regularly spends... More

Especially in Summer, when you can sit outside on the terasse or in the Garden it is very nice. You find a hughe variety of local belgian dishes, together with a vast choice of beers and all of this just avfew km outside the brussels city center. Until now, also no tourists have been spotted there, so you meet locals.... More

Istas as a real brasserie feel - it's not intimate but it's busy and buzzing and personally I feel more relaxed in that atmosphere then when I need to whisper to my guests to avoid death stares! The food is classic but well executed, the service professional but not cloying. Don't expect romantic, but it's thoroughly enjoyable

We have eaten at Istas many times and always been more than happy. We visited again last night and it came up to the standard expected. Good value bottle of Bordeaux. Game pate and a salad to start. Venison fillet with classic accompaniment for main. Good service makes this a reliable treat on the outskirts of Brussels.

Istas is a restaurant that has been around for decades- and the interior has hardly changed. That is a great positive as it makes the place unique and pleasant for a brasserie style dinner. The waiters (used to be big ladies decades ago) are friendly and efficient. The big draw back is the quality of the meat. There are two... More

Been going her for years. Sometimes it is full and the service can be slow but that is the only complaint. Staff are always nice. Food always better. Their menu is great. I love the onion soup in Winter. Cheese fondues are great as are their mushrooms on toast. Steaks are great, all sauces are also great, green beans are... More

Simple but hearty Belgian food ( don't come looking for haute cuisine ) served in an authentic brasserie setting. Istas is made by its long time staff who remain friendly and efficient ( most of the time ). The atmosphere is often frenetic, but as a guest you never feel rushed.
